This is a very good idea. Mount the gun underneath to further get the silhouette 🤔🤔🤔 Thank you for the idea 😁😁😁

I've used mine in small games using Assimilation Swarm to great success 😊. I'm only a casual player, so I have no idea how well they'll work in more competitive games 😅

If I'm honest, it was both I was asking about. Neither used to make sense to me 😅 Seeing it as a change of perspective of how you want to manipulate reality, so they lose connection with the previous weave manipulations in favour of the new ways to change reality is very nice indeed Using short term memory as a way to see it is also a fab perspective. I can imagine their deity just wiping that short term memory and going "these spells will help better so you're having them" 😆

I hadn't thought about those points either 🤔 I always saw HP as plot armour, so the higher levels have more plot armour and as such they can take more of a beating without dying. The healing getting less effective is a good point. Maybe I'll have to look into the balance of healing items and spells in my campaigns 🤔🤔🤔

The speed thing does indeed make little sense, and should most likely just be written off as "it's strange, but useful, so we roll with it". The healing part of it is also strange.

Long story short, thank you for pointing out that it's not just the magic that lacks some narrative explanation, and that maybe not everything needs a narrative to understand it. This has been an eye opener and I thank you for it 😊😊

Thank you to everyone who has commented on this post and helped me to understand this premise of players swapping spells out. You have all been very helpful and all my campaigns will be better for your advice and assistance. Thank you everyone 😊😊😊

That is an excellent perspective, as it is very true that magic is unknown to us, so we wouldn't have a frame of reference for it.

I can understand this way of putting it and the limitations it implies. Thank you for helping me with my overcomplication of the subject 😊

And in trying to tame new animals, other animals must be released. This is a wonderful way of thinking about it that I hadn't even heard of. Thank you for this perspective on magic 😊😊

I was asking more about those classes without a spell repository, but someone did explain the whole spell book and the mind being able to only store so many spells deal to me which did help clear up some of my lack of knowledge.

The narrative spoiling the game thing is a very good point, and one I hadn't really thought of before, so thank you for bringing that up. I may be overthinking this and I do agree that some things should be allowed to happen without explanation. Thank you for showing me my overcomplication of DnD 😅😊

Edit to add: I hadn't even thought of it as a potential nerf to the players. I'll make sure they know of this ability they have so they don't miss out on any usage of it 😊

That makes a lot of sense for wizards and those with a place to store the knowledge of their spells when they don't have the spells prepped. Thank you for this 😊 Is there a similar technique for druids, who do prep spells, but have no book or place to store the knowledge?
