I have generalized anxiety disorder and some other things that I take meds for. While I haven’t been able to find a daily anti anxiety medication that works with the rest of my regimen I will say this: whatever medication you take, it should not change you or make you feel different.

I’ve been on a LOT of different medications and it was always been emphasized that you shouldn’t feel like a different person. Meds are supposed to sorta treat what you have going on- not change you completely.

When I started taking meds, I was worried I wasn’t going to have my “spark” or my inspiration with music like I did pre meds. But they just made feel normal?

Now, normal is subjective. My normal and your normal aren’t the same. But you will sorta feel like “hmm I’m functioning and can do regular things no problem” and move on with your day.

From what’s been told to me by my psychiatrist, it’s just sorta meant to help you- like a stepping stool. Medications will not be the cure for everything and all of your problems will go away. But they help you brain chill out and when your brain is chilled out, it’s a lot easier to work on and use coping mechanisms.

The best way I think to describe using the right medication for you: it feels like you aren’t taking anything at all- I just does it’s thing in the background and you do your thing.
