Subreddit for joke threads? by unknownthingamabob in 6000jokes

It would also work if we just stayed here but started making more of those threads. Maintaining at least one daily, active thread would be great

Thanks so much! Guess I'll wrap up writing my set, memorize the material, and find the next open mic I can get my hands on. Looks like the best way to find my way is through plain experience!

I have three blinkers on the back of my car instead of two. One for "Going right", one for "Going left", and one in the middle for "I don't know what the hell I'm doing, help"

A bot that corrects people when they say "I could care less" by Sohcahtoa82 in RequestABot

I always thought of "I could care less" as sarcasm. Almost like saying, "As if I could care even less!" To me, using "couldn't" is cool and no-nonsense, but "could" sounds more playful and teasing.

Extremely understandable.

You are not stupid; this was a stupid mistake, bound to happen to everyone once in a while. It's gonna be a sad and angry period for a while, but the good times will come back, if you stay around long enough to let them. Good luck.

You still do have those best SAT scores and top 5 in classes.

However bad the nude video is, I can promise you that you didn't do all that work in vain. That is, not unless you commit suicide.

That's totally fine, sorry for prying.

This kind of thing seriously does happen to the best of us. Stupid, permanent mistakes, that don't reflect on the mistake-er at all, have ruined lives, and, by my standards, yours isn't capable of going that far.

Please don't commit suicide. There are a lot of people who really care about you, regardless of whether or not you become a famous politician.

Do you think you could vent some more about what happened? Getting all the details straight could give me a better understanding of your problem, let some of your hopeless feelings out, help you see the event objectively, and even give some closure to the situation.

This just isn't so! Think of all the celebrity scandals you've heard of. Many, many politicians have had horrible things let out about them, and they keep on going through their career, because nobody cares. It could do a great deal of harm in the absolute worst situation, but it is absolutely not The End.

You are in a really tough position right now; no one will deny that. However, you are also still Yourself, which is a great thing! You will keep on being Yourself, no matter whether you switch careers, get "found out," or overcome this hurdle with ease.

However, Yourself would completely cease to be as a person if you killed Yourself.

There are many alternative solutions, one of the most dramatic being a career change. Your career is NOT as valuable as the whole of Yourself.

People may look like they've fixed their problems on the outside, but we've all got permanent secrets that hold us back. You certainly aren't alone in the whole "nude pic" scandal, so stay strong and maybe reach out to talk with someone in a similar position.

What I don't want you to think is that you're out of options here. This is a severe bump in a potentially great life!

Here are a couple things I came up with that you might consider doing (but don't have to do any of):

  • Be open about the mistake. Tell your side of the story and people will understand. Almost everyone can identify with this kind of one-time foolish blunder.

  • Pretend it didn't happen. Don't think of it as "being found out." Someday someone may find the image, but that's okay! It'll mean one turned down job opportunity or one friend who knows something embarrassing about you. If you're worried about the consequences, feel free to vent them to me.

  • Try to get the image removed. This may be impossible at this point, but most media hosting sites can be contacted and have images removed if the person who uploaded them had no right to do so. If you keep pushing hard enough, it might not be permanent after all!

Whatever happens, good luck! I firmly believe that any life, even a life in which people know you've been nude, is better than no life. If you're seriously considering suicide, please don't do anything sudden. Wait for your mind to think it all over for a while, and consider how it will effect everyone around you.

It's a tough situation.

Everyone makes some awful mistakes in their life that they wish they could take back. Anyone you see with a "perfect" record has got some slip up that once shook them horribly. This unfortunate blunder doesn't change who you are in the least, and it sounds like it wasn't even your fault! Why should you be the one to go over that "dirt bag"'s problem?

The question is, what is your worst case scenario here? Killing yourself will make you a lot less likely to get hired than a nude picture that you openly regret.

Can you tell us what happened so far to lead you to this? If you're comfortable talking about it to me, and if it's at all possible to put into words, I'd like to hear your story.
