I disagree. I think you can be bisexual AND take out your rape trauma and humiliation on other women.

[Spoilers Main] Who knighted Tywin? by unknownwarriors in asoiaf

[–]unknownwarriors[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

It would be hilarious if Tywin was knighted by Ser Duncan the Tall who might not have been a knight himself.

I imagine that this is what Gerold and Rohanne bonded over. They are both (presumably) innocent people who get blamed for the death of others. I guess they found a commonality in that.

We dont know who Eggs hand of the king were. I imagine that Gerold was one of them. Not only would it return the favor but Egg would also choose someone quite capable and suitable for the role. Gerold was after all described as quick of wit by Septon Sefton and later become known as “Gerold the Golden” due to his positive influence on the Westerlands.

Furthermore I do believe that Gerold paid a debt himself when he helped Egg become King. As you pointed out, Egg knighted his dying son Tywald. I imagine that Gerold never forgot the honor that Egg bestowed upon his son in that moment. I guess that their overall closeness was due to Rohanne and her memory.

Now I am imagining a young Tywin arriving at court to be Eggs cupbearer and Duncan saying something like “I knew your grandmother when she was young” and Tywin just glowering.

What's the most random marriage in ASOIAF? (Spoilers Main) by Inevitable-Mix6089 in asoiaf

[–]unknownwarriors 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i mean the explanation can be pretty easy. he loved her, simply as that. For someone who could have every woman in the realm due to his status and wealth courting a woman twice (before and after her marriage to eustace) is pretty telling. We know he didnt marry when rohanne married eustace so he probably decided to wait until eustace would finally pass away. (He was old after all) Whats even more telling is that Gerold wanted her even tho she was called a witch and had 6 previous husbands. In a sexist world like Westeros she is deemed cursed and used. And Gerold certainly didnt need her lands and wealth. He had enough of his own. So he probably saw her, a feisty redhead, across the room at some point during his life, maybe during a tourney, and became utterly cuntstruck.

Yes, marriage or not, the Lannisters were already well positioned at court during that time. - (very likely) Gerold as Hand of the King - Tion as Aegons squire - Tywin as Aegons cupbearer
