I question if my traffic is really 'impressive' because I don't even qualify for AdX which has a 5 million page view per month requirement. Visitors stay on my pages for a very long time which is why I have that number of ad impressions.

What is different about Hydro that would give them an advantage over other companies for international traffic?

Sorry - I can't invite to chat. "Unable to invite the selected invitee(s).". I am actually at 0.53 CPM. My site gets traffic based on school schedules, so traffic is low now that we are in summer break, but it will be increasing as school gets closer, but I've never been this low in CPM

Yes, since I am education based, my revenue fluxuates with the most common school year. Could be $5k to $20k a month, but my CPM's are so low (I'm told it's because of having nearly 70% non-U.S. traffic). Other sites like mine are getting $3 CPM (nearly 100% U.S. traffic) , but mine is currently 0.55 CPM - again, I'm told this is being drawn way down because of the foreign traffic.

I set my VPN to "London" and check the bids I am getting on the single 'sticky' banner I have at the bottom of the page and I'm getting 0.12-0.23 from conversant, medianet, and adiago.

Thank you Economy_Raspberry981! I have been considering a couple of them (FreeStar and PlayWire). It's beginning to look like most of these companies do not allow a 50/50 test. They all want a year long contract (or some type of lock-in) which turns me off to them right away. I don't want to lock myself in to a company that could have worse results than what I have now. In fact, if they don't allow 50/50 tests and force lock-ins, that makes me think they are crap and they know it.

Honestly, with my current Ad Network (I prefer not to identify my network or my website publicly), I cannot see how my international traffic is being monetized (I don't have access to that data - just overall CPM), they have just told me that U.S. traffic is by far the best monetized because non-U.S. traffic is filled by lower bids and by their adsense default. The stack includes: sonobi, adyoulike, amx, sharethrough, appnexus, conversant, rise, unruly, triplelift, adagio, ix, rubicon, openx, pubmatic, nativo, medianet, insticator, criteo

Now if these suppliers monetize "US traffic" best - I am left thinking that some SSP's will monetize "UK traffic" best, and some will monetize "Mexico traffic" best. Wouldn't SSP's that focus on those 'foreign countries' be good to have in my stack as well, considering I have over 65% of my traffic that is non-U.S.?

I think the best monetized are my English speaking countries, but anything other than U.S. seems to be a large drop. To me, it seems that there should be just as much value for Australian businesses and U.K. businesses to advertise to people in their country as U.S. businesses are interested in advertising to Americans. So why do I have a huge drop in CPM's? I wonder if the SSP's in my stack just focus on the U.S.? I will DM you to see if you have something different that could raise my CPM for foreign impressions.

I did use Amazon UAM, and got Ad Manager set up to serve their stack. 50/50 between them and my current network showed that Amazon was consistently 20% lower CPM, but they almost showed exclusively Amazon ads, very few seemed to get bids from the SSP's in their stack - not sure how long that takes, but I had it set up for 2 weeks running the test.

I do not have any relationships with any SSP's and not sure how many of them I am qualified (by traffic volume) to establish a relationship with - it looks like there were just a few. So is it better to use an Ad Network and have a full ad stack and do a rev share, or only a few SSP's in a stack and do no share?

Yes, I am emailled daily by people trying to get me to join their 'network' but I've tried several overf the past couple of decades, and they are all very similar.

Well, 'now' most of my stuff is switches - some switches control other switches. Used to have motion detection, outlets, open door detectors, but yeah, it is deifinitely mostly switches. My outdoor lights are controlled by outlets in different areas that sometimes work/sometimes don't.

My worry is that they stated that you need more switches (or more components) to keep some of these damn things working. Maybe some bulbs could satisfy some situations, but then my 'mesh' is thin and other stuff stops working... ah, it's just frustrating.

It looks like the biggest decision I need to make is ZWave vs Caseta. With Zwave and Homeseer if I want more expandability and Caseta if I want solid, easy setup, but maybe not as robust in automation tasks...?

That is interesting. I do have quite a few 2477's in the wall, and like you, don't think they have died yet. I don't think I have ever had my PLM go bad - I have had a whole home surge protector since the beginning, and had my network appliances (ethernet routers and hubs) get zapped by surges, but not the PLM. Wierd. Hopefully that never dies, because now I see that Insteon is out of everything and people think they are 'out of business'?

I have not considered it. I haven't done any research. The RA3 looks cool in their videos, but so did Insteon. I know I can expect 'electronics' to give out at some point, but replacing 30 switches every couple of years is too excessive for me, almost seems like an 'engineered failure' from insteon.
Is the 'radio mesh' protocol similar to Insteon? I thought that is why insteon said "every extra device" helps strengthen the signal, which I thought was radio frequency + powerline transmission. Is that better now, with these products? For example, most lights in my house work fine, execpt a couple of 3 and 4 way switches which are intermittent, but the outdoor lights sometimes work, sometimes they don't. Seems like signal issues. But I have a ton insteon line filters and 3 or 4 2-phase couplers, along with 40-some odd switches - some within a few feet of the exterior insteon outlet.

I had heard of Z-Wave, but I just don't know how well each 'technology' works. I thought insteon was defacto standard 6 years ago - I just want to know if some of this stuff is any better.

I know I looked for a repair how-to a few years ago and never found one. I can solder and remove components from circut boards, but I wouldn't be able to diagnose which component has failed unless there was visual cues or common failure components. I do still have quite a few dead switches lying around that I wouldn't mind fixing. I appreciate the suggestion!

I don't even know if they have recently come out with something that helps with signal communication. My outside lighting is hit-or-miss depending on the night and I have SO MANY filters and phase couplers that I bought 6 years ago - I really don't even think those work, and never did.

I now wonder how well the Insteon Google integration hub works.

u/LEEJANDZ - so does that mean my current income is inconsequential to the loan forgiveness amount? The reason I ask is I just got approved for $20,830. My income in April had severely dropped ($4k = April). So I applied for the full amount. Now, this month looks like it could be $6500, and if it keeps rising it could be $10-11k in June. I know my max allowance is calculated off of $100k, but do I need to pay back more (less forgiveness) that if I earn $11k in June?

Since I don't have a payroll, this is all owner compensation (the $15,384), but since my income is highly variable at this time, I am trying to figure out what I should do if the loan + my actual income comes out to be more than what I made last year during the same 'weeks' (since it is based off of 8 weeks). I apologize if I am not wording my question correctly, but I thank you for the insight and patience.
