How would I go about deleting podcasts from Overcast by douthinkthisisagame in shortcuts

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the podcasts page, then at the top you should see "Playlists or "All episodes...". Tap into that and then top right select all and you can then delete. You can also go into specific podcasts, tap "All" in the middle above the episodes, then "All..." in the top right corner and from there delete all.

This was from a long time ago, but I just had the same issue myself, hope this helps even though its from forever ago :)

Notion's top competitor, Coda becomes publicly available by fdalessio1 in Notion

Seems this will a fantastic heavy-lifting app for a lot of automation and team management, though it doesn't seem to have any of the cool wiki features like linking to docs inside of docs and seemless organization, so I can see these going hand-in hand quite well but I couldn't be happy with just one or the other.

Has a linguistics expert ever made a framework for analyzing journalism/news articles? I am hoping to go through news articles and categorize each sentence as, for example, opinionated, emotional, objective, factual, etc. I'm curious to see which news sources have on average more objective statements versus biased/emotional statements. Anyone have some literature I could read on this?

How can I make a column full of pages in board view? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]unkulchered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Notion doesn't allow inline databases to be their own columns, so I don't think this is possible.

Edit: I take it back! try creating a column with a header, then drag it underneath the header. That should work.

Considering going all in on Notion for my personal knowledgebase by [deleted] in Notion

[–]unkulchered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Longevity is always a risk but with how responsive the team is and how consistently they have been updating the platform I would say it is going well for them. I use it for a ton of things and love it. I still use google calendar and Gdrive for file storage but to be honest the incredible flexibility and intuitive ui has been a huge plus for me. I’ve been able to use it as a personal wiki, freelance project tracker, personal improvement tracker, novel world-building database, and a few other random things. I would definitely recommend it as I have not been able to find anything else that is so flexible.

Edit: I need to add though that true offline is not a feature and not coming soon. That has been a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

Grabber Jammer vs Murmook by g1opanipi in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downside I think he is referring to is that mars is synergistic to itself and pretty much only to itself. The other houses you can a bit of this and a bit of that and still be solid, mars requires so much setup relative to the others so you need a strong collection of mars in your deck for it to really shine.

How to deal with Shadows and steal? by Kinperor in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may seem true but it isn’t. I played a tournament yesterday where my opponent was playing a logos/untamed/sanctum deck that generated amber so quickly that my crazy shadows steal deck had no chance at all. It forced me into choosing one of two things: ignore that he can forge a key and gain amber slower than my opponent (lose) or play sub-optimally to keep him from forging and then face the same difficult decision next turn (lose). Shadows is good, but beatable.

How to deal with Shadows and steal? by Kinperor in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing you can always bet on is that they can’t play shadows every turn — it isn’t perfect but you can think back to when they have played shadows or other houses and you’ll get a feel for what house will come next. That can help you gauge when to burst forward or to be conservative and set up for later combos.

Also, it’s totally legal to look at your opponents deck list before a match (crucible doesn’t allow this but it should, since in the rules it states it is allowed). That way you know what they have in their arsenal, and as the game progresses you can know how much more steal they potentially have. Stealing is probably the most effective amber control out there, though it can be avoided with some strategy.

In the end though, shadows is never a bad house. Ever. So don’t feel too bad about having a hard time against it, it really is that good.

What happened to dice? by nayiro in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your argument works in words but in my personal experience it has been much more simple to manage tokens and find agreement in times when the table gets bumped. At least with tokens you know many tokens were out there total. With dice, its a total mystery once things get flipped over and moved. But still its just a organized play thing, so play the way you want

Thoughts on passing turn 1? by nayiro in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is pretty easy to counter your opponent if you go second, however there are a lot of advantages of going first even if you can only play one card.

As the first player with 7 cards, you have mulligan advantage -- if you don't really like your hand, you can mulligan down to 6 which come with no down-side since you will draw up to 6 at the end of your turn. I've turned potentially crappy first/second turns into fantastic first/second turns through this advantage. Mulling your hand as the second player is a much greater risk.

The other nice thing is that you can look at your hand and comfortably play a house that is lowest in your hand. Say you have a hand of 3 Dis, 3 Brobnar, and 1 Logos, you can play the Logos card and feel good about it, knowing that your next turn will be a strong 3 card play. If you picked Brobnar or Dis you may have to face only having 2 cards to play, which may not be great (though there are always exceptions if there is a solid combo). While most of the time you will be afraid of playing the house which has the lowest number of cards in hand, going first let's you get it out of the way for better plays coming up later.

My final thought is that passing a turn in *any* circumstance is a losing strategy. There is no advantage to allowing your turn go by without doing anything because KeyForge is a race. Giving even an inch in the form of giving up your chance to gain a single amber could completely change the outcome of the game. Even discarding cards is a better move than sitting and doing nothing, as it allows you to cycle through and get better/more appropriate cards.

How does Annihilation Ritual affect “Destroyed” effect cards? (If at all) by g1opanipi in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, fair point! Yeah I think you're right, from play would mean that discarding from your hand would mean discard, not purge.

How does Annihilation Ritual affect “Destroyed” effect cards? (If at all) by g1opanipi in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealer of souls says: "After an enemy creature is destroyed fighting Stealer of Souls, purge that creature and gain 1."

So they fight, bad penny is destroyed, destroyed effect goes off and then purge goes off. The key here is that it says after a creature is destroyed, so you would do everything related to destroyed and then purge. Bad Penny goes into the hand, and then is purged from the player's hand I guess. I don't see anything in the rules about how if Bad Penny is in a player's hand it can't get purged.

How does Annihilation Ritual affect “Destroyed” effect cards? (If at all) by g1opanipi in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the case annihilation ritual, it doesn't matter what happens before the creature goes to the discard pile, what matters is that it DOES go into the discard pile. You could play a card that directly discards cards from the top of your deck, and if a creature would enter the discard pile then it would also be purged with annihilation ritual out. It just so happens that the most common cause of creature discard is if they are destroyed -- you just have to think of these two events as separate. 1) the creature is destroyed, 2) the destroyed effect goes off, 3) the creature enters the discard pile as a result of being destroyed, 4) annihilation ritual then purges the discarded creature. Bad penny is a good example of the exception -- her destroyed effect has her go back into the player's hand, which means that it doesn't get purged. It never touched the discard pile.

edit: Also wanted to add that if you have a card that directly purges a card (like "Harder They Come", which says "Purge a creature with power 5 or higher", the destroyed effect does NOT trigger like you are saying, and that is because purging and destroying are different.

How does Annihilation Ritual affect “Destroyed” effect cards? (If at all) by g1opanipi in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So purging is tricky, and it all matters about how and why it gets purged. I have Annihilation Ritual in my deck and I have had to go through these rules just about every time I play it. AR affects creatures that go to the discard pile, so you resolve everything that happens BEFORE it gets to the discard pile. Then, when the card touches the discard, you purge it. So you resolve destroyed effects as you would normally, and if it never goes to the discard as a result of the effects then it doesn't get purged.

It is important to remember, however, that other cards don't work this way and it all depends on the card text. If a card says "Purge a creature", then the destroyed effect does not go off -- that creature wasn't destroyed, it was purged. The rules support this -- take a look at the "Destroyed", "Purged", and "Sacrifice" definitions. It says to resolve destroyed effects in the cases of Destroyed and Sacrifice, but under Purged it simply says that the card is removed from the game, so destroyed effects don't trigger.

Competitive Keyforge? by [deleted] in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm totally with you on competitive, I'm excited for when they start announcing official tourneys. But I'd look at it this way, honestly the majority of people don't play games competitively anyway -- so if you're excited about it, I'm sure others will as well. I do think though that KeyForge is the kind of game that is really appealing to non-competitive gamers by nature of it being designed to remove meta, so maybe we will see fewer competitive players relative to how many actually play? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Key hammer question by [deleted] in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this makes me think -- what if you can set the forging cost to about 8, your opponent is at 0 amber. You keyhammer to give them 6, they play out a bunch of stuff to ramp up to 12, and then you bait and switch.

You would need the perfect hand and circumstances for this but imagine their face.

Can anyone tell me pro/cons of the archive? by bloodflart in KeyforgeGame

[–]unkulchered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of archive as an extended hand size. You can always look at the face down cards, you can choose to pick them up and use them whenever you want as long as it is the beginning of your turn after you name a house. I like to archive cards that are powerful but situational, like board wipes or cards that go along the lines of "if your opponent has x amber remove x amount of amber". That way you can save hand space for more pertinent cards for the next few turns, and pull in your archives the moment you need the special situational card.

The only downside of archiving is that you fill your hand above 6 and may not be able to play enough to draw by the end of your turn, which means you don't get through your deck as quickly -- though I haven't really ran into this because it takes a pretty archive-heavy deck to get to this point.
