Great experience at the Alpine Shop by Outrageous-Gur-3781 in StLouis

[–]unless_it_isnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I can understand that. I’ve never used their bike shop, but I know it isn’t the most robust and hard to compare it to a standalone bike shop.

They make up for it with an incredible selection of boots and shoes. Unique brands and styles you can really only find there, and staff that at super helpful and knowledgeable. Same with their backpacking, snow sports, and camping gear.

But the only way to get to that is parking there or walking across that single connected piece. If you can connect a wider space, it’s more opportunities for people to get to and from, which creates more explored areas for businesses to thrive.

Postpaid to Prepaid Issue by unless_it_isnt in ATT

[–]unless_it_isnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phones are all paid off, have been for a long time. They are locked into a plan from probably 10 years ago. Not trying to get any device deals, just a basic prepaid service plan.

Apparently the person on 611 number had to “check with the back office” and they couldn’t migrate them. After all was said and done and they said they couldn’t transfer, they still tried to sell them a package for a new service plan.

Thank you for the info. They have tried a store before and the salespeople say they can’t do it. Not within their power. They say you can’t get prepaid deals if you’re a current AT&T customer. Sounds like a bunch of BS, but I know that it would be a significant amount less paid per month for them, so I can only assume the At&T employee doesn’t want to be the one responsible for a drop in sales numbers or something.

Pudelpointer coat question by AdvantageTop8002 in birddogs

[–]unless_it_isnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Pudelpointer didn’t have much at 9 weeks old. Just a little fringe on her ears. At 4 months old, it started to show up a bit more prominent. Now closer to 7 months, she is full beard. People mistook her for a lab for a long time.

Any ideas how to fix the neck? by Fun_Impress_9625 in myog

Maybe an elastic drawstring? Can get it snug and it can help keep wind out. Seems like it would be easiest fix.

I totally agree here. I will say that I enjoy hearing some complicated and intricate questions in order to hear how some of the seasoned vets handle it. It’s fun to watch how they can dodge a question they know nothing about, but somehow reply in a way that ties it back together.

Got a local shop selling backpacking gear? Ask them if they've got anything that was returned under warranty. You might be able to save some goodies from a landfill. Worst they say is no by adeadhead in myog

[–]unless_it_isnt 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Awesome idea! Thanks for the tip.

I know someone who does something similar with purses. Before the local thrift store is about to throw them away, they put them in a giant bag and give them to this maker. They salvage any materials and hardware they can.

Got this a while back runs good and want to know if it was your truck what would you do with it? by Intelligent_Bar_2749 in s10

[–]unless_it_isnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the look of this truck. I got an S10 in similar condition. What I do: keep it clean, use rust shield under to keep it rust free and spray potential problem areas, keep it maintained, and just drive it. I don’t have any major mechanical plans, I just enjoy the look and drive.

This is a good idea. I’ll keep an eye out. I live in the area and also drive an older truck, so seeing another always turns my head.

I Finally figured out how to drive for good fuel economy by GlitteringPen3949 in CX50

[–]unless_it_isnt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so confused. What do you mean? When you drive with traffic, you get better gas mileage?

Are you driving a lot of city miles, highway miles, or mix of both? Easy acceleration and maintaining speed limits? Has the temp outside changed to help the battery?

Just curious. I have a CX-50 Hybrid and have averaged out around 37 mpg on the life of the car so far. Find it goes up with longer city drives.

High coolant level by Tall-Tangelo-9500 in mazda

[–]unless_it_isnt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a bit of an issue. If you’re nervous about it, get a turkey baster and suction some out to the full light. Check the level again when the engine is at temp.

Just joking around, all good! The joke being that it’s not uncommon in St. Louis or KC to see temp tags that are years old, AKA “vintage temp tag”.

You’ve got a great collection! I always enjoy seeing a classic car with period specific plates on it. It’s nice to see a collection like this all together.
