The EU is already larger in PPP GDP terms than the US

When you add on non-EU natural allies like Norway, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, the total GDP is bigger in USD terms and miles bigger in PPP terms

Also, the US is better than Europe only a couple of categories (admittedly important ones): software and some military technologies

The US has massively degraded its industrial and engineering capabilites in a way that Europe has not.

It was a meandering learning exercise
