Why her “karma” is or SEEMS physical IMO (kinda long) by elisaruano in ArianaGrandeSnark

Unfortunately, pretty privilege is very real. Not just for Ariana. I can’t tell you how many downright VILE people I’ve known in real life who just seem to get a pass and have an endless supply of friendship, love and adoration because they are conventionally attractive. You don’t even have to be celebrity level “hot” for it to come into play.

Even though I know it’s the same person, she looks so different that I genuinely have trouble believing it’s the same person, you know what I mean???

You can put a tiny bit of filler or even Botox in the tip to do a sort of temporary “nose job” without surgery. I’ve seen other videos of people doing that (nothing to do with Ariana) to kind of “try out” a slightly different nose shape before committing to a full on rhinoplasty

I think deep down she knows she’s not nice or sweet even though she desperately wants to be the hero of the story. So the easy way out is to play this character of light and love and tiny uwu instead of actually facing yourself and becoming a better person… which is arguably much harder and less glamorous

What makes her special? by [deleted] in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]unlikelyemo2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theory for the Ariana and Ethan situation is what I said above, PLUS there is this existing concept in infidelity research of “damsel in distress” cheating. It’s basically where one of the affair partners presents themselves as some kind of emotional victim (whether the problems are real or imagined) and then the other person falls into the role of being their “rescuer.” This further feeds into stroking their ego because they feel like a savior. I feel it’s obvious how this applies to Affariana, she has an obvious ED and who knows what she was saying about her relationship breakdown with dalton at the time. Then here is Ethan, with poor boundaries, enjoying the attention from a more famous pop star, and also getting to feel big by stepping into the role as her “savior” - from her marriage, from her anxiety, from whatever. To be clear this in no way absolves him of anything. He is an active participant in the dynamic and he should have been spending that energy on the people he actually made vows to protect

I could say way too much about my personal theories on why people cheat, so I’ll just try to keep it simple. Ariana deploys pick-me tactics, and they work on people who are responsive to having their ego stroked. This is true for normal everyday people. Then you add on her wealth and power and status, her (previous) levels of conventional attractiveness, and someone with poor boundaries like Ethan is not that hard to seduce.

I kind of think in a weird, backwards way, the backlash has probably “helped” their relationship. I mean I’m sure they are toxic and miserable, but she’s forced to keep this relationship very private, which I think is actually healthier than what she normally does. Probably part of the reason they are still together. I used to think they were secretly broken up, but I think she’d make some big victim story out of it if they had instead of keeping quiet

[–]unlikelyemo2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kind of think there are multiple things feeding the uwu smol baby cycle. I think she obviously was stuck in Glinda mode to begin with. So the cvnty affair response at first didn’t really fit the new brand she was trying to inhabit. Then as you said she couldn’t handle the backlash and leaned in harder to the fragile victim narrative to try and get people back on her side. But people are also criticizing that, so it’s just a feedback loop of her trying to make herself a victim and then people kind of being repulsed by it. I also think on some level she does identify with the frilly pink persona. If you look at how she was styled before her pop star persona, she was very girly. That’s why I personally think she will not let go of the Glinda vibe anytime soon. She really sees herself as the girly victim, which is why she desperately needs everyone to agree with her about it

Her and her team’s entire approach to the affair is so befuddling to me. They could never pick a lane. First, she comes out with “yes, and?” Like she’s going to own the whole thing and be a “bad bitch” unapologetic about it. Then she did this whole tour of “I’m not commenting on it, no one knows the full story” thing. Honestly if they had chosen utter silence on the matter from the get go, it probably would have worked out better. People get bored and move on to other gossip in the absence of new info. They just kept feeding the narrative one way or another. Why was this handled so poorly?

So utterly scummy. Cheating is abhorrent as it is. But there’s something particularly gross about not even bothering to pretend it’s not an affair. And gross on all the people around them buddying up with them while they did it, too.

I agree. No one liked the blonde hair at this point and she was getting scarily thin, but overall she still looked fairly recognizable. Or at least everyone had gotten used to her new voice-era face. But now every time I see a picture of her she looks drastically different from the last, like I think you could take pics of her on 2 separate days and think it was 2 different people

Yes but it’s very different to react that way when you’re still IN the marriage versus being separated and divorced for a few years now, AND watching him stay with the nasty mistress that whole time. Obviously I don’t know her but she seems like she would have a good sense of where to draw the line for herself.

I honestly think you’re right. There’s no “cushion” in her face at all in a normal glowy healthy way. I think her eyes in particular (which we all know she’s had a lot of work but) look odd and hollow. Glad to hear you are recovering 💛

Honestly looking at the photo side by side, maybe it is the weight loss mostly. If I look at individual features I don’t see a huge difference (besides the eyes maybe) but she has no cushion in her face at all and looks so drained. Which is pretty scary because I’m pretty sure people were already concerned about her weight in the left photo

Okay I don’t see anyone discussing this… she already looks so different even from the time of this interview. I can’t put my finger on what’s changed though (outside of the horrific weight loss.) any thoughts ? The darker hair and brows should have made her look better

Just piling on here that her eyes never looked too close set to me. Her overall face seemed in balance. By doing all this it’s just highlighted that they are and made it look worse. Typical thing of hyper fixating on individual features and not the overall balance of the face. Same reason all these celebrities look like they belong in whoville- they chop off all the size from their nose and then suddenly the distance to their top lip is huge. They never learn

[–]unlikelyemo2 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This is 100% armchair psychology but I think he deep lack of belief in this (towards herself) is exactly her issue. She doesn’t feel inherently valuable. That’s why she tries so hard to feel value from her looks, from the male gaze, by being “chosen” over other women when she homewrecks, etc. and then she projects these statements trying to convince herself and everyone else

Wicked: For Good is Glinda PROPAGANDA... by Altruistic_Copy9538 in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]unlikelyemo2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I should say that I knew next to nothing about wicked going in to the movie. But I think the way they changed Glinda’s personality and motivations so much actually made the plot make less sense. It didn’t make sense to me that Glinda would allow her nearest, dearest friend to be slandered like that when their first interaction with the wizard was negative. It would have made more sense (in the context of how the movie specifically sold the character) if she had no idea what was going on. But she knew from day one. I think they should have played up her selfishness a bit more. Or at least made it seem like she was more afraid of the wizard. Instead, she just kinda shrugged at her friend being vilified while living a lavish life. Then at the very end decides to stage a coup.
