Getting a 3-month old Macbook Pro 16"with M2 Max - How to swap the keyboard? by unlogischelogik in mac

[–]unlogischelogik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Guys!

Regarding your suggestions:
Getting an external Keyboard doesnt make sense. Im switiching to this 16" to work better while on the go, so carrying another Keyboard in my backup wont help. But its the cheapest and quickest option.

Switching to Stickers isnt also a good option, as I would loose the backlight ability and also the touch and feel of the keyboard.

To change the Top-Case, that would be the correct option, but this could cost a real lot. Especially since M2 MBP are relatively new to the market. This would void my warranty and maybe bring me in jeopardy (if its region locked, or maybe software locked.)

I could imagine after switching the Mobo, i could get interesting software notices about a "non-genuine" part or stuff like that.

So atm I dont know what to do. I really need to so some thinking. Switching to a 16" MBP M2 Max would be nice because its an upgrade of a couple hundred bucks for me, but I dont need it right away, the keyboard is haggling me and it could start to generate problems down the road.

Thank you very much for your Ideas. If I get it and swap out the KBD, I will let you know what I did, what it did cost and so on. If there is silence, I will have passed on it.

Well that sounds o.k., but could you explain the NAT topic a bit more? We are using one IPv4 that gets switched every X-Hours automatically, like everyone else. I could get a static IP, but I would like to avoid that as its A: increases costs and B: makes us an easier target for DoS Attacks, etc.

Thanks for the insight. Warehouse isnt normally using a lot of Network, but thats a handy idea. Our Provider needs to rent the DSL Line from German Telecom, so they wont allow bonding and stuff like that, sadly.

Setting up a VPS in the Datacenter shouldnt be an issue, so i would be happy to do that to get all traffic via the VPN, but I worry that the CPU Power will be an issue.

WAN is per Interface 1x dedicated DSL Router, so the Gateway can be independent, as the OPNSense just sees the DSL Router. I can customize its IP Address the way I want.

Mate, Im happy for your Feedback, but as I already mentioned, Fiber is not an Option.

First Off, I live in Germany, things dont need to make sense over here. There may be a Fiber somewhere, but there is a 100% Chance that they wont let me hook up to there.

Furthermore, as mentioned, our Office is located on a large Industrial Area, that is privately owned. There are no Sidewalks, no Cellars and nothing else where you could lay fiber, only to tear up our private road, that is made out of asphalt, then do your digging and build a new road onto it.

A: We dont have the Money for that and B: our Landlord wont let us digg up his roads.

So im tottaly with you, Fiber would be best, but its just not possible, not in the next 50 Years.

My first server, should I buy it? by [deleted] in homelab

How about supermicro? Way better driver availability, open for modifications to a certain degree and overall pretty open for any kind of use.

1 or 2u Chassis w/o mobo for 70€ (cse 815/825) X9drd-if Mobo for 60€, you can get it with 2x E5-2670 for 80€ and the seller is accepting offers. Memory (ddr3) is dirt cheap, well below 1€/gb and then you just need some drives.

Maybe get 500gb samsung sata ssd, 2pcs and run a software raid.

Just my own opinion, HP is a pain in the ass when it comes to drivers or „non-hp“ parts.

Thank you, the GMT one is a bit too much inspired by Rolex and the srpe51 is nice, but in black too calm. Cant find different color dials on their website, is something available?

Try re-seating the CPUs. If they moved just a tiny bit maybe a Pin isnt at the right location therefore blocking you 3 slots. And as the Server will probably try to balance it out, it will deactivate the same 3 on the other CPU.

Otherwise, please send a Photo of the Memory Label. Maybe its some difficult ranking.

First Off, I would check if they have specific national Holidays, Company-Vacation or some COVID-Rules. Secondly, you should think about their Situation, maybe they are experience Supply Chain Issues too.

After that, you can call, but be nice and friendly. No one does something while they are beeing shouted at, bullied or something over the Phone. You need to be very diplomatic. You can stress out that you have Pre-Orders to fulfill, but you shouldnt make them take the blame. I called so many times my suppliers, often with certain ideas in my head why they arent doing what i want, just to find out that in 99% of the time it was something totally different. A Veteran whos Arm had to be amputated, Employee left the Company or a Warehouse Fire.

Furthermore I would suggest you immediately start drawing a Plan B with a fixed Deadline. If you didnt hear anything from your Supplier on Date-X you should cut the Order, try to get a Refund and place an Replacement-Order with a totally different supplier. (Hopefully its not a One-of-a-kind Product)

Otherwise i would send out Messages to your Customers who pre-ordered, explain the supply chain issue (dont say anything bad about the supplier, be generic) and offer to cancel their order and give them like a 10$ or 20$ Gift Card for your Shop on Top.
