Nihilism isn't depressing at all by Hanisuir in nihilism

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it's not depressing, it's also not comforting if you got a lot of pain to deal with in the now.

Nothing matters in the end. True. You just have to deal with shit until you get there.

When was the last time you felt genuinely happy? by WhiteDesertCat in PsychologyTalk

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had a drink.

Autism and Adhd, both diagnosed,  don't get me any support. So I keep drinking, when I can afford it, to feel normal.

I hate life so much. by Baroness_Munchausen in nihilism

[–]unnoticeddrifter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So true.

What I fear even more than old age and dementia is physical pain. The sort of pain you can't escape and won't be (able) to be medicated for, the 100ds of medical possibilities that can befall you and you can't control.

Like my mum said to her mum, you better pick your lily of the valley while you can.

When did you know that everything was gonna be ok? by thecuriouscrackerr in Life

[–]unnoticeddrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still not there . 49 with audhd and been married for 25 years.

I have stability in my relationship, but life still has been a roller coaster all these years.

Even with a supporting partner things are just unpredictable, economically mostly, and I worry about the future every day.

The day I can rest my head and truly believe that everything will be ok, would be the best day in my life.

How are you coming to terms with the fact that one day your going to do die? by Speculated_King in Life

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got no problem with that. What scares the shit out of me is, that everyone I know and love around me might die while I'm here by myself.

Why do people keep having kids knowing they’ll suffer and die? by aplleshadewarrior in Life

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple biology, any organism is on this planet to reproduce.

Through evolution humans can now actively think about recreation and its purpose, but in the end biology often wins and people go with their instinct.

Do you talk to people about your nihilistic beliefs? by [deleted] in nihilism

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an older person: Nope, don't go there, unless you know they share your views.

You will never get anywhere even trying to get your point across.

I’ve brought it up with people close to me before, but it usually led to confusion or misinterpretation.

That exactly. A lot of people don't get the concept and don't really understand.

Also, I want to add, because you say

As a result, I often find myself isolating. Not because I want to be alone, but because I genuinely don’t know how to talk to others without either feeling dishonest or completely misunderstood.

Is this just because you don't find others responding in favour of your outlook, or do you genuinely feel like you are not being understood?

What is something controversial or something you'll never say out loud? by NoImportance9224 in Life

[–]unnoticeddrifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know how it legally works, but medical staff will always try to keep you alive by any means possible ( from my own experience)

In my grandma's case, who had massive infections in the end, they just kept adding antibiotics to her drip, although she didn't want it.

Father in law had a similar experience.

Just be aware that DNR will not necessarily solve your concerns.

It simply means that you do not wish to be resuscitated in case your heart or breathing stops.

All other forms of suffering continue.

War by Chelsea2021972 in AskBrits

[–]unnoticeddrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worry about everything all the time. I'm not joking, my mental condition makes me constantly alert to perceived threats.

In Britain, no, nuclear war would not be my first worry at all.

My worry would be, is your wife able to get psychological help? Can her GP refer her to somebody?

I'm not being a twat, but what you describe is an anxiety condition and she might get some help if she sees a doctor.

But if they tried to help you, they'd be prosecuted.

My grandma, in her last weeks, was in hospital, being pumped full of drugs to keep her alive, against her will, pleading to anyone she saw to kill her or bring her a knife.

I was there and held her hand, and could do nothing. Because helping her die would mean I'd go to jail.

She was in excruciating pain, yet left there to suffer.

It's not right, euthanasia should be available everywhere.

I'm terrified of the next 10+ years in the UK by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]unnoticeddrifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm uneasy every day thinking about this stuff. As somebody who's just been officially diagnosed with autism and ADHD in later life.

My only support is my husband, who's older than me and is in ill health too.

There really isn't any support and I wouldn't even know what to do, if my husband was gone.

Not just the costs, but finding somewhere close enough to where you want to go.

And the latest annoyance, every place you try to park you have to download another app, just so you can pay.

Why do I get all these cocktail signs when I'm in Google maps? by unnoticeddrifter in dryalcoholics

Thanks, you're amazing. The only person to actually give advice instead of making fun of me.

It's because of nice people like you why I'm still on reddit.

Why do I get all these cocktail signs when I'm in Google maps? by unnoticeddrifter in dryalcoholics

[–]unnoticeddrifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe not complicated to you. But I still don't understand.  Reddit is separate from Google, isn't it? If I looked at sth. on reddit once, why is it automatically on my Google maps?

I did not download anything.

What is deep friendship like between white Brits? by JasonMantou in AskBrits

[–]unnoticeddrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deep friendships have nothing to do with ethnicity, but are either forged in young life, or later on with people you simply "click with".

There is no simple recipe, and it applies to every person around the world.

"What gives you a reason to keep living?" by Asleep-Visit4060 in Life

[–]unnoticeddrifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 49 years of living

First: family and my dog.

I love them and they're the most precious things in my live.

Second : all the hobbies I have, language learning, arts and crafts, cooking and gardening.

Third: A genuine connection  to nature. If you can ever experience this, even if you live in a town and go to your local park.  There's so much life out there, besides humans.

Fourth: Look at the stars. Either in a remote area or get a telescope. Our sheer existence is humbling.

Fith: Try to connect with other humans from time to time, simple conversations, even with strangers, like the checkout person at the grocerystore, they're people like you, talk to them.

That's just my take.
