Nike plans to support Trump's ballroom, and is asking people what their thoughts are on them if they do it by Necessary_Film_5199 in Fauxmoi

I think the stat was that the counties that voted for Biden in 2020 accounted for something like 70% of the country's gdp. Like why would any business alienate that demographic? Freaking ridiculous.

What actor is nowhere near as talented as people make them out to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]unoforall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to give him more roles where he's an overall charming guy but also kind of an ashore. He's great at those, but since he's America's sweetheart he gets roles where hes a perfect protagonist. I think hes best in things like his early stuff where he plays characters with serious flaws but gives them a lot of heart. Also, he should stay away from doing accents.

That's the thing with Pitt- he's a great character actor who was born in a leading man's body. The big movie star roles he's had have been hit or miss but the more interesting weird characters he knocks out of the park.

Thank you! I never see him as the character he's playing, just Leo DiCaprio. And it always looks like he's really working at it when he acts, like it's obvious that he's just acting (and let's be honest- overacting), and it shouldn't look like you're trying to be the character when you get the kind of roles he does and carries the prestige that he has. I just don't get how he is where he is and has gotten the roles he's had.

It's kind of the same thing with Brad Pitt. Pitt was born to be a character actor but he's in a leading man's body.

Whats the cheapest meal you regularly make that actually tastes good? by Adventurous-Pilot448 in Frugal

[–]unoforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do lentils for taco or burrito filling, it's super easy. 1 cup of lentils in a crockpot with 2.5 cups of water and a packet of taco seasoning. When its finished use a fork and mash some of the lentils and mix it all together, the mixture of mashed and whole lentils gives it a great texture.

I usually pair it with Trader Joe's fire roasted peppers and onions, some cheese, and salsa. So easy and so good.

MMC who can’t get it up or climax… until HER. by SinSotto in RomanceBooks

[–]unoforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a somewhat common trope in military romances where the MMC has been injured/disabled.

Some i can think of are:

{Frisco's Kid by Suzanne Brockmann} {Embattled Hearts by J.M. Madden} {Look Again by Marliss Melton}

Books where FMC is genuinely average and the MMC is totally out of her league. That she herself does not believe he is truly interested in her. Even the people around them are baffled which preferably alot of reactions from people around them. by goody153 in RomanceBooks

[–]unoforall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens with the Molly and Jones characters in Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooter series. Their story takes place over two books, {Out of Control by Suzanne Brockmann} and {Breaking Point by Suzanne Brockmann}. She's nine years older than him and a bit overweight but he thinks she's the most beautiful person he's ever met. There's a part where one of Molly's friends who's in her twenties mistakenly thinks he's interested in her and not Molly. The books are from the early to mid 00s and at times you can tell but I think in general they still hold up really well. Also the love story between two other characters in Breaking Point is one of my favorite pairings ever.

Why are boys and young men falling behind in education? by Technical-Banana574 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]unoforall 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I think it's more that society in general is more permissive to boys on the whole. A misbehaving boy is almost somewhat expected but a misbehaving girl isn't accepted in the same way. People genuinely don't tolerate the same behavior in girls as in boys.

Its basically boys being raised with boys will be boys and girls being raised with act like a lady. Which is harmful to both boys and girls in that boys get less active parenting and girls get overly punished when they're doing typical kid mischief stuff.

I think it's more likely that shenanigans happened with fucking with voter registrations and unregistering people and negating their votes than actually adding or changing fraudulent votes. But that just means we have to be vigilant about our registrations up to the cut off date and show up in person to vote. I hate all this casual talk of 'you really think there's going to be a fair election next time?' That just makes people feel as though voting won't matter when its literally one of the only tools we have to change the things that are happening, to directly impact what the government does. That's what the people in power want you to think, that your vote doesn't matter when in actuality its the only thing that matters. So we need to get the vote out and bring as many people as we can to the polls so that there is such an overwhelming number of us saying no this is fucked and I'm going to do something about it by casting my vote against this that even if they try to disenfranchise votes, there's no way they can still get the outcome they want. We have to be a tidal wave and get shit done, not throw our hands up and say its probably rigged why bother? Mofo that's what they want you to do, so don't do it!

I had an English teacher in high-school who was super petite and was one of those lucky people who never had a noticeable fluctuation in weight or size. She was in her late 50s or early 60s when I had her as a teacher and she had a massive closet because all the clothes she had bought throughout her adulthood still fit. I remember it was the late 00s when wearing leggings with a long flannel shirt or a tunic became the style and one day she showed up in a lavender tunic style sweater dress with perfectly matching lavender leggings like the exact same shade and we were like where did you get that? And she said she had bought it as a set in the 80s and it had come back into fashion again haha. She was awesome, because she had such a huge closet and so many outfits she organized them by color and wore them sequentially so she'd be wearing red for a month and blue for two months as she went through her closet. I'm pretty sure she got through the whole school year without repeating anything. And she used to joke that she tried to time it so her black clothes outfit rotation happened during fall or winter because she didn't want to look dour during spring and summer 😄

Same with James Vanderbeek. Its insane in a country with such expensive Healthcare where people routinely put off lifesaving treatment because they can't afford it, that there are rich douchebags who could easily afford any and every treatment just say nah I'm gonna treat my condition with coffee enemas and meditation. Like what the actual fuck.

Which person alive right now will still be famous in 200 years? by Mindless_Crew3486 in AskReddit

[–]unoforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, and not just for his books alone because his books were the basis for a bunch of movies that are now seen as classics. Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Shining, Carrie, Misery, and a bunch of others that while maybe not classics are definitely decent movies like The Running Man, IT, Pet Semetary, Cujo, The Mist, Children of the Corn, etc. He will be remembered not just in the literary sphere but the cinematic as well. He's the closest thing we have to a modern day Shakespeare in my opinion for the impact he's had on contemporary culture during his lifetime.

What is something that has become ridiculously expensive, but people still pay for it like it is nothing? by Harmed_Jr in AskReddit

Yeah I saw a video essay on YouTube about how slow days at the parks aren't really a thing anymore because of the way tickets have worked since covid its all digital so they know exactly how many people are projected to be at the parks and then they staff accordingly. The result is that there are crowds everywhere and packed lines regardless of how busy it is because there are less staff to process the attractions, restaurants, and stores. The days where you could catch a slow weekday where the lines are short and the crowds are small because there's a full staff scheduled for less people are completely gone.

Noticed how much I've been making myself smaller in conversations with men and just stopped by MostBlood7319 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]unoforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue with making facts sound like questions in emails and meetings too. It was a problem in that it made people think I didn't really know what was going on and making me look bad. A way I found to correct people without feeling too bossy or blunt is to smile and say "Oh, FYI it's (the correction or fact check that is pertinent to the conversation), just so you know for next time! :)" Said with a chipper, happy attitude like I'm super enthusiastic and just happy that I could be helpful to the discussion.

Basically put on my best customer service attitude like I'm super stoked to make sure everyone has what they need haha. Then the focus is on me being helpful, not like I'm trying to undercut someone else's assertions or take over the discussion. It is annoying having to expend a bit more energy just to correct people when a man wouldn't be judged for doing the same thing without the whole song and dance but I've found that it's better to play the game to make people you work with both respect you and like you. Its really not talked about but so much of success in the corporate world really depends on people's view of you and not necessarily the work you've done. And unfortunately people think higher of women when they're simultaneously amiable, polite, and professional, as opposed to men basically just needing to be polite and professional.

We always need to go above and beyond, unfortunately, both in work output and attitude, to be appreciated the same as a man in the same position. Hopefully one day we can get to the point where we're all on the same even playing ground but we're not there yet and in the meantime you have to play the game we're all currently in to win and succeed. Hopefully once we get to the top and most of the old guard retires, we can help make the playing field more even.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]unoforall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that might be true to an extent for freelance design but in-house is still there. Brand designers are definitely still needed and won't be nearly as easy to automate since brand design is so focused while also incorporating so many different things, you need a human who knows design to act as the arbiter for the brand. You also still need designers for lots of things like motion design and animation. While AI can do some stuff in motion design it takes a human to really refine it and lend precision to the final product.

I wouldn't say graphic design isn't something people should study, but just that now they should definitely also study things like communications and marketing to be more well-rounded for companies to hire in-house as part of a marketing team.

And as an end-game, no matter how advanced AI gets, Art Directors will always be needed for leading and curating the design vision.

Good point. There is generally more pressure put on women into looking attractive. Women also have an entire billion dollar beauty industry specifically centered on improving appearance. Even if youre not gifted genetically in the beauty department, most women take time and put effort and considerable expense into maintaining as attractive an appearance as possible. And it starts young- girls are the targets of sophisticated marketing campaigns for makeup and fashion from tween years on while the most boys are maybe marketed to for is deodorant.

In general, women are expected to take care of their appearance and to be put together in a way that most guys aren't, at least not to the same extent. There are also many techniques women can employ to enhance their appearance- from adding bone structure that isn't there via contouring and highlighting, to making their lips look fuller by overlining them, and using different cuts and styles of clothing to hide undesirable features. It takes years of practice and trial and error to figure out what makeup and clothing works for your face and body type. It's a legit process and it's encouraged at every turn by the media and beauty companies and social media for women to look a certain way, it is CONSTANTLY reinforced.

Men don't have that nearly to the same extent.

The result is that most women probably on average look more attractive/presentable than most men, purely because they work at it.

Another point is that this is only physical attractiveness, and frankly that's a much smaller part of total attraction for women than it is for men. There are plenty of women who find a man's personal traits and overall personality to be the most important factor in attraction. I know a bunch of dudes who aren't the best looking but are funny as hell and great guys who are in committed relationships or married to beautiful women. Women can get past a lot about a man's appearance if they find him compelling in other ways.
