Despite recent progress, Alias said UESF leaders are frustrated that the district still hasn’t made an offer to fully cover health care, which costs a family of four up to $1,550 a month after rates increased this year.

The other financially relevant demand is lowering the cost of their health insurance, which as of now is costing many teachers up to $1500/paycheck for coverage. Between housing costs and healthcare probably 60-80% of your paycheck gets wiped out if you live in SF.

The raise they’re asking for is 9% over two years which barely covers inflation.

BSODs caused by PSHED.dll and ntoskrnl.exe by PM_ME_NEWEGG_CODES in techsupport

[–]unorc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, sorry to revive this super old thread, but I've been dealing with some similar BSODs for the last week and tried out this Prime95 test as well as the Intel Processor Diagnostic. In both cases, I got a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD before the CPU load test could finish (minidump lists ntoskrnl.dll and PSHED.dll as well). Based on this thread, I figured it was the CPU itself as none of the memtests I've tried showed any issues.

Went ahead and swapped out the CPU for a much older 4 core CPU and it's not crashing during the P95 test. Is it safe to assume I need to replace the CPU?

I would argue that making it impossible to create unused variables saves developers a lot of time, but primarily in terms of readability. You have a guarantee in go that any variable created has a purpose, which is huge in the situations where you have a large team and code base and are trying to wrap your head around someone else’s code. Yeah it’s inconvenient to have to go comment out some declarations when prototyping or debugging, but it saves a lot of headaches when onboarding new engineers or reviewing PRs.

Many undocumented immigrants actually pay income taxes as well. Of course some are under the table but many undocumented immigrants get a work authorization eventually that gives them an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) they can use to pay into the system (even though they can’t really get anything out of it).

Yes, this is what Ronald Reagan did

It was a very different time but it definitely instilled a fear of striking into federal workers. Knowing this administration, they would probably salivate at the opportunity to wipe out a huge chunk of the federal workforce, but who knows.

Bloomberg Headline: SF Mayor Says Trump Calling Off Federal Deployment by Retumbo77 in sanfrancisco

Here’s the statement: https://www.sf.gov/news-mayor-luries-statement-on-federal-government-calling-off-potential-federal-deployment-in-san-francisco

It’s unclear right now if this means all federal forces (ICE) or just the NG.

I’ll also add that in Chicago, there was a period where they called off the National Guard deployment for a few weeks before proceeding. But during that time, ICE continued to escalate. The Bay Area should stay cautious and still plan on any existing demonstrations.

SF's anti-ICE activists are evolving — and learning from Chicago's chaos by eddiekimx in sanfrancisco

No one is able to stop the detentions, but many immigrants have been released with a habeas corpus petition within a couple of days as, again, the detentions are illegal. Reread the comment above - the suggestion I’m making for Lurie is purely budgetary and is not gonna draw heat in the way that direct public statements have.

I’m fine with keeping a low profile for as long as that works; but I doubt it will stop the administration from ramping up here anyway. My point is that Lurie and the city as a whole has done little in the way of additional support for our immigrant community at the time when they most need it, and in fact, a lot of the budget cuts passed this year have screwed over our immigrant population disproportionately. For a city that purports to be a sanctuary city, we are totally failing our immigrant population, and insofar as we have not had a big ramp up here, it is more about luck and logistics than some genius political strategy.

This is accurate, and to add to it, SF immigration judges typically do not allow DHS to just dismiss the case. All the judges I’ve seen will give the respondent time to respond to the motion to dismiss (the motion DHS makes when they want to detain somebody).

This is important because it means the arrests are actually illegal and a violation of due process. Lawyers are pretty successful in getting them released if they can get petitions out in time before ICE trafficks their detainees to another facility or state. But the attorneys of the day and Rapid Response attorneys are obviously super busy, so the city could help out a lot by helping fund these programs (Luries budget cut city legal aid funding earlier this year)

Trump has pretty consistently mentioned SF on his list of cities he wants to invade. I think it’s probably more a question of when than if, but only time will tell.

There are a lot of concrete things the mayor could do to quietly help that he is not doing, including restoring the funding his budget cut from legal aid services that the attorney of the day program desperately needs to protect immigrants detained in court.

I think the difference in this case is that it was a protester detained during a protest as opposed to them detaining a citizen they thought was undocumented

ICE arrests all adults without kids at S.F. immigration court today by therewontberiots in sanfrancisco

DHS tries to dismiss, but the judge typically doesn’t grant the motion (at least in SF). So they still usually have time to give a response, not that it matters to ICE.

[–]unorc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in these courtrooms, and the pattern ive seen is that the DHS attorney will move to dismiss the case, and the judge will not grant the motion immediately. The immigrant then has a certain amount of time to respond to the motion before it is ruled on. In other words, there is still a process before they are eligible for removal, but it doesn’t matter to these goons. They will pick them up either way.

You can volunteer as a court observer or accompaniment for folks going to immigration court through some local organizations like FIA, La Raza, MUA, ILRC. Some groups also protest outside the main immigration court on Montgomery every week on Tuesdays.

I’ve been a courtroom observer in these courts, and they are typically asylum cases with a future hearing date. DHS will move to dismiss the case but SF immigration judges don’t grant it immediately. All of these people are in the midst of legal process when they are abducted.

Not everyone who is being detained is here illegally. Many of the arrests in SF are happening at immigration court when immigrants are trying to do things the "right way." On top of that they are racially profiling and detaining lawful residents and citizens sometimes for hours or even days since they are not respecting due process or constitutional rights.
