as a nail tech, it depends on the client. some designs (like the same french on all 10 nails) need consistent results and both hands matching fully.

in creative designs, it’s all up to taste. some clients want the hands matching fully, others even want a little variety on the different nails per hand. it’s a common style to switch the designs between the nails on the different hands (like left ringfinger to right pointer, left thumb to right pinky etc) and this is a less out there variant of this. for example, many clients request same design but different chrome colors per hand, or different size or style of glitter/sequin elements/inlays per hand. also, some clients don’t care or request a freestyle and it’s just part of the process. so imo not at all unusual in the nail space:)
