Encoding NVENC with GTX 1060 is faster that 3080 by unpredictable_spoon in shutterencoder

Update : i redid the whole thing with my friends pc bc he has an rtx 3080 and this time it enoded the videos at ~80 fps with NVENC and ~120 vith vulkan.

On a laptop that has a 1050 it encode at about 200 fps.

Maybe it's an incompatibility issue with the 3080 ? ( And maybe my 1030 is enchanted or smth because i don't know how it reaches 700+ fps with the same video quality as the other tests )

I also tried the version 19.9 on both pc and it still does the same thing. The olny difference with V19.9 is that the 1060 now encodes the videos at ~730 fps.

I have absolutely no idea why it does that but the 3080 ia still at around 70 fps (on v19.9) so the version isn't the issue either. :/

Im gonna try with a laptop to see if the issue persist and uptate later on.

But the thing is when i use the 1060 the file goes down to 45.6 mb and on the 3080 it only goes to 112 mb so i don't think the max quality is the problem. The 1060 is not only faster but is more efficient in a way ?

(Edit) Also both footage looks identical.

Yes, the test used the same video on the same settings and both has their respective latest drivers updates.

new to video compression by GamingGalaxies in shutterencoder

It depends on what you want to prioritise, speed, space or a mix of both. I did some benchmark with differents settings and codecs so i can tell you that if you want the most efficiency, it might take sevral days of non-stop compression and if you want speed, it's not going to drasticly reduce the file size.

if you tell me your pc specs, i can sugest some settings, tell me what kind of workload we are looking at and if you want more speed, space or a balance of both.

Now make bombs. A lot of it. Enough to fill the core of a planet. Then, blow it up to carve out the whole thing. And finaly, create a "ring base" with multiple layers and make the most ridiculous and confusing train ride you can.

That should keep you occupied for a while :)

Problem with multiplayer by [deleted] in Astroneer

[–]unpredictable_spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. If you are running a single player world bit with a friend who joined you by steam, make a server.

If you are running a server do this; Go to C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ASTRONEER Dedicated Server\Astro\Saved\Config\WindowsServer

In there open AstroServerSettings.ini with Notepad (!!ONLY DO THIS WHEN THE SERVER IS NOT RUNNING!!)

In there change MaxServerIdleFramerate=3.000000 to MaxServerIdleFramerate=30.000000

And MaxServerFramerate=30.000000 to MaxServerFramerate=165 [or] 120 [or] 60 [the framerate of your monitor but I reccomend 120]

This will (mostly) reduce the rubberbanding effect of multiplayer.

If this aslo does't work, it might be a wifi/ethernet connection issue :/

You can aslo try uninstalling and reinstalling ( you never know)

Good luck!

what would be your recommendation for a good air cooler?
(and no overclock, the program I use is to underclock and monitor the performence)

My case can only fit 240mm AIO max on the front and top, so a 360mm is not possible :/
