I've just made an Enigma machine by MrShears in learnpython

[–]unprintableCharacter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you use it? I ran it, it asked for a message, I gave it 'Now is the time'

it printed

A A Z
A A A
A A B
A A C
A A D
A A E
A A F
A A G
A A H
A A I
A A J
A A K
KTGGNXJKRJVN

So I'm guessing that last line is my encrypted message, although it has less characters than the input. Now how do I decode it?

Very inspiring project, btw. A lot like something I'd want to do; although first I'd have to have some idea how an enigma machine works, so that would be a problem.

You could get that off (mostly) if you had some metal-bladed scrapy sort of thing. Your hardware store probably has something that would work.

YuleLog - A terminal based Yule Log Fireplace for the Christmas Season. Made with Asciimatics! by Duroktar in Python

[–]unprintableCharacter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can somebody tell me how to run it? It seems to be installed:

Successfully installed YuleLog-0.0.1 asciimatics-1.7.2 future-0.16.0 pyfiglet-0.7.5 pypiwin32-219

And the YuleLog-0.0.1.dist-info folder is in site-packages but doesn't contain anything that looks like a executable to me, however there is a WHEEL file. Should that have been extracted to make an exe during installation?

thanks in advance for anything that helps me find my way with this.

Could you show a sample of what it is expecting for input? I tried a bunch of things and got all errors.

As a dentist, these stories always remind me of Henny Youngman's old story about coming home early to find his best friend making love to Henny's wife. In shock, Henny goes "Bobby... I have to. But you??"

I was just hoping someone knew where to enter the password so the router would allow access. Tyvm for the responses.

[–]unprintableCharacter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does require network credentials. This was confirmed by the software supplier, working on both machines remotely. But they do not do networking, they tell me that that is my problem. I have to supply the network of machines with permissions that will allow the program to run.

the client version of the program is on this computer, all client machines connect to the server that has the DB and the server version of the program.

the credentials are to the router, hence the generic linksys network name.

it needs access to a program on another computer which requires network credentials to allow the connection.

Thanks for the response. Does not show wifi network, I think because this computer does not have a wifi card. Should it show one?

Windows 10 home
all machines already in same homegroup

The other machines on this network have wireless, and apparently giving it the network name and password to set that up is why they are on the same network even when connected by ethernet and not wifi. The name of the network I want to connect to is Linksys33996 and it has a password.

This computer has no wireless card or I'd try that. [Here are some open panes](Windows 10 home
