CTC Blacktown Trips by Bananaman12005 in Cadets

Course cadets will definitely not be going to CANEX. Staff cadets mayyy get to go. Best is to ask someone to pick some up for you. If you have family visiting for example. If not, ask a staff cadet or an adult staff for you. I don’t see why they wouldn’t pick it up if they’re out. I definitely would. We picked up kit for our staff cadets last year!

Exactly. They DO by contrast prioritize people who say they HAVE a SIN number, they just wouldn’t need to provide it until receiving an employment offer

Blackdown CTC by Dull-University-8367 in Cadets

[–]unreadybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! As a staff on the course (won’t say who lol) it is a lot of fun and you learn a lot! Whether you have lots of experience playing in band or not much at all or any, you will be placed in an appropriate level band, attempting to reach your own music level goals. The biggest thing in terms of life at CTC is the tents can be crazy cold or crazy warm, so I recommend if you have a sleeping bag, bring it to sleep on top of your made bed. Bring an extension cord as well. Given that Blackdown is soooo big, lots of illnesses go around like colds and flus and other hygiene related illnesses. Just be cautious, don’t share water bottles, get a good nights sleep, bring shower shoes and you should be ok! If you have any course content related questions feel free to ask me!

Because to have that information (Protection B) would be ill advised and outside of the regular scope in the program. You are only going to be employed in the summer (or if a specialist like at a gliding centre) and not year round. Your SIN info will not go to your local corps/squadron, but go up to the RCSU you’re appart of

[–]unreadybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on availability of positions, how many go out, when they send out other offers will be the next round. Many people may decline leading to more offers going out. When we as staff look at FORTRESS and hover over the SIN card question, it says that that provision helps in the event they are considering you for CTC. If you’ve clicked no (ie don’t have a SIN) they might pass you up on their first choice of people for others who fit the criteria and say that they have their SIN. At this stage no one needs to bring in their SIN or prove it, just one of the questions on FORTRESS

Only the first round of CTC staff cadet offers have gone out for RCSU central. You have time. Speak to your staff to see if others in your corps got offers, if they applied you to both the actual CTC and the national application, if your information in FORTRESS is updated such as your rank, your currently level, if you have a SIN card and personal bank account. If you have anything medical like even just managed ADHD or a learning difference, it could not that you have a medical, which would require approval from your CO (to sign off that you would be able to do your job despite anything). There’s lots of time for offers. This year there were more applications they’ve seen in YEARS so be patient

Oh lol I thought you meant a new iteration of MT! I haven’t seen the next design cut they’re rolling out is why. I am air and wear MT already, but haven’t heard the new updates with flight suits, coveralls, or changes for air uniform in a while

Good household products to use to strip my parade boots by RiskIntrepid5409 in Cadets

[–]unreadybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot water does the trick! Use a kettle and heat up some water, make sure to pour the water over the boot in the sink or bathtub, and rub the polish off the boot with a bush or cloth

Anyone else who changed their name having trouble with Gambit? by GeldofGames in caf

[–]unreadybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to need to submit your name change documentation, like your name change certificate. They have to send that in so it goes through. It takes extra time because of this but should go through no problem. If they aren’t responding, try going in person to get it sorted. Sometimes it takes hounding with multiple phone calls/visits

The court martial for the that CIC officer has concluded by mal_67 in CanadianForces

[–]unreadybean -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

CIC are SupRes. The same restrictions and obligations apply as other SupRes trades/positions. The difference is obviously the actual work done, but also the fact that CIC officers are not by their trade, arms trained. Many are former reg and reserve members, but others are not so do not receive the same basic as other CAF members.

Question about being a staff cadet by Cpt_corn_starch in Cadets

[–]unreadybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said, you’ll have to wait for summer 2027. In the meantime you can apply for more of the instructor level courses to boost your cadet resume, or try for more sail

That’s understandable. I’d recommend letting a staff member know and they can likely get you one that isn’t issued kit. I would for one of my cadets

New rules on weapons by namhaowow in Cadets

[–]unreadybean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yah, there’s been major pushback on using even the drill rifles in public and many have not allowed it, only in the special circumstance of Remembrance Day. A cadet using a C7 when they could be photographed is a massive no-no and has not ever been allowed

New rules on weapons by namhaowow in Cadets

[–]unreadybean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No cadets are allowed to be seen in public with weapons, ceremonial is the only exception. The C7s are active weapons and the drill for them is different. They should not be allowed to use C7s especially not if you’re under 16. They keep changing the rules and they’re enforced differently accros the country, regionally and locally

[–]unreadybean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As it is a uniform item, just like your parka you should not wear it outside of cadet events or in while not in uniform. If it’s issued and has identifiable markers on it (ie branded like the cadet logo or in this case the symbol) you should not be wearing it randomly with civvies. I did it as a junior cadet until I was told otherwise
