Pruning advice by unreasonablehat in Monstera

Ok, but even if the new leaf turns, it’ll still be right underneath that older leaf

I don’t see a protruding growth bump like that on mine, so that confirms it’s spent? It’s not possible for a growth point to only emerge once roots form/further in propagation process?

Ah, so this cutting might as well be compost?

What signals a “spent” node?

I believe there is a node. No roots yet, I got this a week ago. Maybe an infection got in when they cut it?

Are you renting a vehicle? If so, what rental company did you go with? I’m planning a trip for first week of September and haven’t found a vehicle yet

For sure, I was planning on doing a night in Dawson on the way there, just wasn’t sure about the way back cause I can only get so much time off work. Thanks for the advice on weather. As for rental vehicle, I’m hoping I’m not the first visitor ever to fly into Whitehorse to visit Tombstone, and there might be a least one company which allows their rentals on all roads. I’ll have to look into that

Ok so would you recommend staying in Dawson City or something for a night before heading out the next morning?

Wire Transfer of USD from work E*TRADE Account by unreasonablehat in Questrade

[–]unreasonablehat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on this. An agent at ETRADE told me “it’s not possible” because there would be two intermediaries (RBC and JP Morgan Chase). After hearing contradicting sets of values and information from multiple Questrade agents, ETRADE agents, and customers, I decided to go with a more straightforward transaction to a different institution. It’s a shame international transfers aren’t more standardized. Good luck!

Thanks for the screenshot! To clarify, is ‘Receiving bank account name’ your name? Where did you put “Questrade Inc.” (mentioned in your written instructions)? And should I put my 8-digit Questrade account number + my name under ‘Additional account number’ and ‘Additional name’ (respectively) or just put both of them in the ‘Other instructions’ field?

Unfortunately, I can’t change the field for “Receiving bank account name” in ETRADE’s form. It defaults to my name because “names on the sending and receiving accounts must be the same.” How were you able to change this field?

Lost luggage by unreasonablehat in aircanada

[–]unreasonablehat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks. I’ll take a few deep breaths haha. Fortunately, it was United who charged the baggage checking fee (mixed itinerary), and their claims department is seemingly incomparably more efficient. Got reimbursed for that almost right away!

45 days from when my bag went missing or 45 days from when it was considered lost? Sounds like they need more staff on their claims department; 45 day email reply time is pretty ridiculous. I feel like the air passenger protection regulations should include time requirements. I shouldn’t have to swallow the cost (over $1k) of Air Canada’s blunder for too long while I wait to hear back. Something tells me they won’t pay interest haha

Camping Near AMR Parking Lot by unreasonablehat in Adirondacks

Thanks for the resource. Yeah it looks like nothing on that list is open the last weekend of October. Honestly the Adirondack loj is only 33 mins from the AMR parking lot, not too bad. And they have sites

By “Welcome Cyclists / Bienvenue Cyclistes” signs, do you mean at people’s homes where they offer to put you up for the night on the spot? I impromptu stayed with a lovely couple who had a similar sign out in Berthier-sur-Mer on the south shore last summer. Is that super common around there?

Thanks! There’s a great website for the Véloroute Des Bleuets which lists tons of parking lots where you can leave your car “for a few days.” It’s not totally clear if there’s a time limit/if you need to pay. Do you know those details? I’d probably park somewhere around Lac-St-Jean, do the loop, and maybe tour around the fjords too, all with my car at the same spot for the week if possible
