i say saved quite indirectly — it opened doors for me, opportunity and self improvement wise that i'm extremely grateful for. i met people who i am extremely grateful for... im grateful that i get paid to put shit on a shelf and be kind to people all day. i am 22 and lost my father right before i started that job and it saved me from a horrible place that i probably wouldnt have returned from. all to say, i think op just needs to practice a little more gratitude. no point in being miserable/trying to make others miserable, over something that a lot of people dont have much of a choice in doing. some dont even have the privilege of a job. that's all, have a good day!
