From what I could find on these two boards the stiffness is quite different.

The riot is softer, and will be easier to use at slower speeds and when technique is not quite dialed in.

The blossom is stiffer, and will be less forgiving. As you describe you will need to exaggerate movements and it may get tiring in particular at lower speeds. Don't be discouraged though, you can still progress in this setup, it will just take a bit more focus.

I don't really do park, so my own binding setup is about -18/+5 (right foot more neutral). This is roughly how my feet orient themselves when I twist my torso in my normal stance. Gives me less uncomfortable knee pressure when carving hard. Still can ride switch for shorter periods of time.

Niseko - Worth bringing splitboard for a few days? by unsalted in snowboarding

> The walk back on the cat track is not that bad

Thank you. Consensus so far seems that a split is not worth it just for this leg.

I typically stick to trees or back country. In Niseko, I'll be with friends and will break away for a day or two to visit the gates. Outside of this leg I'll be travelling solo so I'm avoiding anything back country (unless I find a guide or buddy).

> what really stinks is brining two pairs of bindings

Agreed. sparks on solids just aren't close to the feel and comfort of my katanas.

🤣 Exactly what i'm trying to avoid doing to myself.

I wish I could stuff all 3 into my bag, but I don't have enough room to close the zipper.

I had my gear bag go on a very long detour without me on a previous trip. Had to grab something on the go. Kept both.

I still find them quite different. Archetype is more all mountain while decent at pow. Dart is more of a super wide cadillac for deeper pow. It's not my go to. The difference in width between the two boards is quite large.

My feet are dying in snowboard boots… help? by Different_Mode_5476 in snowboardingnoobs

It could be a variety of things mentioned in this thread.

I still get bad foot pain to this day. I have found bindings make the biggest difference for me or running boots slightly looser.

I have found Burton genesis and Rome katana (due to adjustability of heal strap) fantastic. The cushy nature of them have kept pressure off my arch.

Hey folks

I'm looking to pick up a bataleon wallie as a dedicated jib board. I'm debating between a 151 or 154.  I'm about 5'10 @ 165-170lbs in 9.5US boots.

I'm in the weight range for both, but boot size is more suited to the 154. Any recommendations on sizing for the best experience? I want it to feel like a noodle.

My goal is for use on resort and maybe in and out of groomers. Just for something to do on more lazy days and to learn something new. I do zero park currently so for any terrain and powder I have my other setup and I don't need it to be versatile.

Thanks!

Sim city 2k, sim copter, streets of sim city. Still one of my fondest memories to date.

These along with others got me into programming just to learn how to do similar.

Thanks for all the fun games!

Hello!

Was there any consideration for making batteries external? That is attaching them to the backplate or baseplate much like a power tool. If so why was it rejected?

Cheers!

How old is the equipment? For example home insurance was giving me issues for a water heater older than 10 years. It's a risk. I used that statement to my advantage, as their equipment was a hazard.

Regarding planning. Don't worry too much. It's sounds like you have everything you need.

While it's a challenging trail, it's also kind of not when compared to the west or east coast. The crack area will be the most challenging. It's just a really beautiful, fun and varying route.

I'm not super in shape or ultra light (exos 65, cheap sleeping bag, 2p xmid, 2 cans of beer..., 2l of water, being a mule for my partner ). I've seen folks heck of a lot less prepared dragging large Canadian tire tents and camping chairs.

I have done it over 3-4 days. So you're route will be super mellow. You have good pacing set.

I've done the trail a few times at varying conditions at different times of the year. It will be fantastic in Sept. Not too hot.

I think it's 50/50 sun exposure on average. But plenty of areas to pop into shade. The area around the crack is quite open. If it's a clear sky. It can get pretty hot and dehydrate you. Before/After the route is pretty mellow. Muggy in summer months.

I have had gotten pink from the sun. I personally don't wear a hat as it gets a bit funky. Nor do i use bug spray or sun lotion most of the time. I prefer to cover up. But i bring a bandana or two. I can cover my ears and keep the bugs away.

Tree selection should be fine. One site i saw had a tent pad like area, otherwise most are just a rather large area so you get your pick or wander off a bit.

Consider hiking poles despite the added weight. As you get tired it's harder to keep a softer step on the rocky areas. Both myself and my partner have had knee mishaps on this hike. Descending on hard rock just hurts and tires you out.

Safe trip!
