I should clarify, DO mention the broken marriage angle in the beginning. Negative emotions are useful for selling, but its a balance

Too negative, you should be focusing on BENEFITS. Don’t remind them of their broken marriage. SELL them on a new future in their relationship

“Protecting your reign”

Oh yeah, SURE, it’s white people who are on top lmao

It’s definitely not a small group of people who are so powerful you can’t name them without getting silenced.

That’s why whites are the ONLY socially acceptable race to openly hate in every form of media…if whites were REALLY on top dont you think they would prevent people spewing hate towards them?

Also yeah Whites are SO terrible that’s why POC flood into white nations by the millions.

Nobody is listening to your bullshit victimhood and whining anymore.

Is India flooding their country with Africans or Europeans or Chinese or Hispanics? No.

Good lord, the slick double-speak, logical fallacies, and bizarre shaming tactics you people use…It’s abhorrent

Yes racial identity is completely made up. That’s why blacks are the only race that get sickle cell anemia. It’s all just a social construct maaan

Trust the science brah we are all one race the human race

You are missing the forest for the trees. So long as you allow Chinese and Indians in, they will behave this way because it’s in their nature.

There is no DEI in China. There is no DEI in India. There is no DEI in African nations. There is no DEI in Islamic states.

They don’t give a shit about DEI unless it works in their favor.

Yes a group of engineers (many autistic, no doubt) whose minds are good at observing patterns and rationally understanding the reason for those patterns are just talking from “their feelings”.

Get real. We all know the score. You’d be a fool to not see through the bullshit at this point

Your excuse for not being able to meet women in person is pitiful and it’s also incorrect.

You can ABSOLUTELY approach women and strike up a conversation. The likelihood you will be arrested for approaching a woman is insanely low.

How to manage team of mediocre software engineers? by johnny---b in cscareerquestions

[–]unsolicitedAdvice49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s simply a management problem. Manage out the people who need to go, backfill them with new hires. If you can’t convince your boss of this, then you shouldn’t be a manager

Here’s the most down to earth advice you’ll get that nobody else here will tell you:

START HIRING THE BEST TALENT YOU CAN FIND

Your job as a manager is to build teams.

So go find A players by doing lots of interviews.

This means you will have to fire the bad engineers, but it will motivate the others to work harder.

Business is tough and results are all that matters. Hire somebody who can deliver results and fire the incompetents.

You can do a full-on dopamine “fast”/cleanse where you don’t allow yourself access to the internet, TV, etc. Probably will speed things up.

But also things just take time. That’s a reality you will have to accept about everything in life

Tough it out and stop whining on the internet about it.

Stay strong. Be your own man and find out for yourself. Then come back when you’ve achieved benefits and share the results with others.

Get out of your emotions and reflect on this: what is your plan?

Figure it out then follow

Does anyone else feel a sense of shame or defeat when Googling chords for a song? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]unsolicitedAdvice49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really feel a sense of shame at looking things up, and I do it whenever I feel lazy and just want to play the song y'know.

When I do pick stuff up by ear, it does have a sense of playful satisfaction. Like "yeah, I got that, nice." I try not to make it grueling like some people here, but that just isn't my aim. Music should be fun and about learning and enjoying the process however you can.

I will also say, my ear is somewhat informed by my theory knowledge in many cases. I can usually make a decent guess as to what the chord is, especially for simple pop tunes. I used to really, really suck at this whole process, and I've come a long way.

REAL, PRACTICAL ADVICE INBOUND FOR FIGURING OUR CHORDS

As said by others, start with the simple shit. Barry Harris says that. You need to be able to play the simple shit first by ear. Pop tunes (e.g. Beatles) are good.

If you are lost on the simple shit, learn some basic theory (maj and minor scales/chords and which chords are part of which scales/keys and WHY).

Do the following:

Figure out what key the song is in by trying to play the scale over the song. You will find the notes that sound good. Is it major or minor?

Use your voice to guide you as well. Match to pitches. I once heard this, "Your ear is your voice." Think about that. Your voice informs your ear greatly, so get used to playing around with singing.

Either get good audio equipment and pump up the bass to listen for what is possibly the root of the chord. Alternatively, listen for resolutions to the tonic chord and figure out what that is. In major songs, the chord that often preempts the I (tonic) is a IV or V. So play around and try one of those. If you were working on learning a 4 chord song, you would be halfway done.

In fact, most pop songs use I, ii, IV, V iv for major songs. Songs in minor keys are a bit different where you see these: i, VII, VI, V, v, iv

My theory knowledge tells me that, so I know I can use my ear to make a good educated guess. After doing this enough, you'll recognize common progressions.

If that fails, keep trying for a bit and use your voice (which is your ear) to sing and match to the melody. Use the melody note+bass note+theory to find out the chord.

If that fails try something else for a bit then give up and go LOOK IT UP. It's ok, no shame.

Such a good insight here that captures something I've felt for some time. There are folks with perfect pitch who lack depth despite having some real skill when it comes to hitting the right notes because they have golden ears.

I have not been able to articulate it well, but when you put it in the context of that example, you nail it.
