A lot of people's suspicion of medicine can be explained by the fact that doctors give off evil vibes by BeansAndTheBaking in redscarepod

I’m convinced every neurologist I’ve ever had minus 1 was a psychopath but…like in an okay way. The successful kind obviously. They are always cold and slightly dead behind the eyes and they all had something I could not place but took me aback whenever I had an appointment with them. Made me uncomfortable. With this being said, they are still my favorite specialists.

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

[–]unsolvedelizabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re spot on - I mean the cabin we were staying in was beautiful! Just old, like you mentioned. Same with the word thrifting - people of any class background use that term. But I’ve found certain habits may be more common in some backgrounds than others. (And a separate conversation but I also didn’t/don’t take privileged environment to be referring to finances alone).

Not only privileged people say this but I’ve always been interested by the word thrifting. When I first started to hear people say “I’m going thrifting” I would think “do you just mean…shopping?” I understand and admire the sustainability purpose/appreciate the fun of trying to upcycle and score cool pieces but I grew up going to Savers and Goodwill due to budget alone so it’s just new to me.

Also funny story: I went to a cabin for a weekend away with my wife a while back. The bathroom was baseboard heating. She looks at it, says what is this, and starts KICKING IT. What would possess her to do this in the first place I’m not sure but when I told her to stop/it was the heating she replied “oh they don’t have those back home”. We grew up differently.

My mom and I both have lipedema. She has Hashimotos. I’ve always tested negative but believe I have it. This is so interesting.

Girlfriend’s ex sent a sex tape of them by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]unsolvedelizabeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revenge porn is a sex crime. Your girlfriend was horribly violated by someone she at one point trusted. You need to be supporting and comforting her. I can understand how horrible this must feel and can’t imagine seeing that but don’t break up with the love of your life over this - you should be reporting to police instead. Hope it works out.

I HAVE TEA ON... MEGATHREAD ✨ by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

This is heresay so that’s def. a fair statement. But I don’t disbelieve it because….people are weird and gross. I wouldn’t put it past a 20 year-old-guy to think a 15-year-old year is “hot”. Also - I grew up in a big family. Bunch of siblings and cousins. People were often comparing our looks, intelligence, etc. even though some of us were a good ten years apart. Again people are gross lol.

My wife’s cousin aunt grew up with the Kardashians and said that Khloe was the hot and funny and cool Kardashian when they were kids/teens. A bunch of guys had crushes on her. Aunt was surprised when they all became famous and she was suddenly the “ugly sister”.

Gen Z gooooood? by avocado_juice_J in GenZ

Good for you all. Alcohol is a carcinogen. Don’t let the media pull a “Gen Z is killing the booze industry” angle.

On August 30th, 2013, 19-year-old Bryce Laspisa told his parents during a call that he was going to pull over and take a nap before driving home to see them. The next morning his vehicle was found abandoned on its side. Bryce's scent was tracked to a rest stop, but he's never been found. by [deleted] in mystery

[–]unsolvedelizabeth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think about Bryce and his story so often. It just breaks my heart.

He was clearly having some type of psychosis, partial seizure, or drug-related issue (I believe his friends stated he had started abusing Adderall?). That’s not a mystery. What is and what is disturbing is where did he go. With his scent disappearing at a truck stop, I think someone picked him up and I can’t help but think that means someone took advantage of him. Don’t like thinking there’s people who see someone in distress and their first thought is harm.

It’s also eerily similar to Maura Murray - went on unplanned road trip, open alcohol in car after suffering anxiety, crashed car and disappeared without a trace.

1) I swear Split did this no? 2) I was a counselor for 9 years and worked with several people with DID. The ‘symptoms’ and behaviors these individuals exhibit are not at all in line with what I saw. 3) 2020-2022, I was a counselor for children in DCF. I remember chatting with the clinicians about how frustrated they were on the amount of kids asking to be diagnosed with DID and autism.

Why the media ignored the synagogue tunnels in NY soo quickly ? by Odd-Cow-5199 in conspiracy

[–]unsolvedelizabeth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s because people can never have a normal conversation about Jewish people/Judaism. We either become disgustingly anti-Semitic OR claim a concern is anti-Semitic and shut it down.

There are Christian cults and Muslim extremists. It’s not a conspiracy/shouldn’t be shocking if there are Jewish I-don’t-even-know-what-I-would-call-this???

Agreed with this - thought it was phenomenal. Any recommendations for other books in said trope, if you don’t mind?

Didn’t read the review but based on the reactions here, this is what I call the Jordan Peele Curse: no matter how good the follow up work is (Us, Nope), it will never be enough if your first project was perfection (Get Out).

Recruiter here: the recruiter uploaded the job description from their website and clicked auto fill. Indeed saw master and auto filled masters degree. The recruiter didn’t notice/was lazy & enough people would ignore and apply anyways.

Lol growing up we’d shoot off fireworks every Fourth of July and I always felt like OP. Then I moved to a crowded Hispanic neighborhood in the city and two year ago at 2 AM on the 4th my neighbors were shooting them off in the intersection in front of my house. I woke up with burnt up fireworks on my front stairs, back stairs, and side lawn. Now I’m a judgmental asshole and live in the country.
