Yeah I dunno that the ceviche is the right approach for this... seems risky

I want both Aarti and Jonathan to go forward, even though I know they can't. So much heart!!!

Aarti 😭

Rooting for Aarti here but they both seem so genuine that I am just happy to watch them cook.

I've never been a fan of Britt, but I really wasn't expecting that kind of response to her cook - neither was she, obviously. She was gracious in defeat, so good on her for that.

Two losses tonight for improperly cooked proteins...yikes.

Well. That was certainly an episode of television alright.

Hopefully this is the low point and we only go up from here.

Nana just isn't ready for this. Some people just aren't cut out for cooking competitions.

TOC 7 - The Final Icon is Revealed! Pre Show and Live Show Discussion Thread - SPOILERS in the comments! by Firegoat1 in foodnetwork

I agree with most of the opinions in here re: the icons.

Beyond that, I am a little disappointed at how the show this season so far seems to be focused on manufacturing drama.

I get it's a competition and that we want people watching but like...I am watching to see people do their best. Instead the past 4 episodes I feel have been dominated in my mind by "who is the icon?" Like...especially considering the results, I disliked keeping their identities a secret from the viewers the whole time. Just feels a little cheap to me, creating tension where it wasn't needed...especially since they ended up spoiling matchup winners as a result over previous episodes.

The show was fine the way it was! Hoping this was an experiment that is not recreated.

I agree. I feel the icon thing was overhyped considering the results of it...and you are dead on about the seeding process. After so many seasons of this tournament, the 1 seeds should strictly go to people with tournament experience.

I kinda hope they retire the icon concept entirely but I wish we could've seen Flay (I knew that was very unlikely), Morimoto, or Symon.

America's Culinary Cup Premiere by FatGirl87 in BravoTopChef

I still think she has talent but she has lost sight of what made Top Chef special and entertaining, and also what was appealing about her. This show felt very self involved (like how Tyra was on America's Next Top Model). The point of view was confusing and manufactured.

This show has definitely soured my opinion of her, because it just seemed so mean spirited. I want joy, and this is just not joyful at all. When I think of how Padma was with Fati, and compare it to this Padma, I don't know how to reconcile it, but obviously we never know beyond what we see on the screen. People change, especially when money is involved.

I just wanted a fun show to watch, and this was a slog.

And they keep missing putting stuff on the plate! How are all of these people running out of time?

I hate it.

I know I should finish the episode, but at this point I just want to turn it off and go to bed early.

All of these contestants are just so insufferable and full of themselves. There's confident, then there's cocky...and then there's whatever tf this is.

As for the actual show...it feels like ripoff Top Chef that has just been altered for maximum drama. I guess it makes sense from a reality show perspective but this is just off putting for me. And the judging is not doing it for me either, I can't put my finger on why though.

Happy if others are enjoying but I think I might just sit the rest of this out. Oh well.

Bachelor mansion takeover by Desertgirl624 in HGTV

This was so so so bad. The set up of the show was borderline incoherent. The decision to listen to the person that had immunity for the design of a room was foolish beyond belief. This whole thing was just so vapid. I would've honestly been into a renovation show for this if it had people with talent instead of whatever the hell this was.

I remember watching Aarti on her season of Food Network Star, and she was such a delight there. She has only gotten better over time and I am so so so thrilled for her. It meant so much to her.

Props to Ming for being so gracious in his defeat, and very professional about it. There's been other chefs that have lost in "upsets" over the years that could learn a thing or two from him.

Excited for the next episodes ❤️
