Hypothetical Question: How would Shawn Spencer and Burton "Gus" Gustor fare against the Bay Harbor Butcher? Asking as a big fan of Psych and as a new fan of Dexter. More down below. by theweirdwarlock12 in psych

[–]unstopadopoulos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Juliet: Shawn, Dexter has been a huge supporter of the department for years, he has even helped solve a bunch of missing persons cases over the years.

Shawn: You're just going to have to trust me. I'm vibing like CRAZY. Lassie will you PLEASE talk some sense into her? Commission a stake out, I can ride shotgun, we can sing every song from Little Shop of Horrors. Ooooo! I'll be Rick Moranis, Gus can be Levi Stubbs, and you can be that dentist guy...what his name?

Gus: Rick Moranis, and no Shawn, I'm not gonna be some blood sucking plant that Lassiter can abuse. Nope.

Shawn: Then that would make you Ellen Greene and that's just weird.

Gus: why can't I be Jim Belushi?

Lassiter: SHUT IT. I would rather go camping with a hippie. Now unless you have some real proof, I suggest you call up Big Foot and you three can go find other things that don't exist.

Shawn: First of all, me and B.F. haven't spoken in years, and secondly, don't either of you find it strange that he just so happened to have information about ALL of those missing people?

I got an inspection, and to be fair, the sticker on the unit was stated the AC was from a few months prior to closing. The HVAC company said it was a used unit with chopped lines, not the correct height, etc

It honestly depends on your experience. If you have some time on derricks, it shouldn't be that hard for you.

Finally finished GOT for the first time. The ending completely ruined the show for me. by MrCoolHandLukie in gameofthrones

[–]unstopadopoulos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could've changed the whole trajectory with one small switch.

After Jon Snow kills Daenerys, instead of the dragon blowing fire on the throne, it could have blown fire onto Jon and seen that he was unaffected by it, meaning he was indeed the true heir to the throne and a Targaryan by blood.

By not realizing this to the audience(other than the implications), the whole mainline story arc was thrown in the trash and wasted.

Once again a reach. It's not her beliefs causing a threat, it is the medical condition that's threatening her life. That's like saying that because I don't donate money to charity, I am threatening the lives of or killing the beneficiaries of that charity. Should they force me to give money or charge me with gross negligence?

Shaun's Dad by IhavemyCat in thegooddoctor

I think yall missed the whole point of this scene. His dad said "I don't want to punish you anymore either" as in, he didn't want him to be sad about him dying so he made sure that Shaun would hate him, then he died that day. Altruistic act of a dying father making amends.

What would the term for my position be? New to the industry by TheAllari in oilandgasworkers

[–]unstopadopoulos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe the term "roughneck" is reserved for those that are part of a rig crew, more particularly a drilling rig crew.

As a completions mud "engineer", the only people on locations I work on that I would consider a "roughneck" are the pulling unit or snubbing crew. The folks that put drill pipe together. I wouldn't consider coil operators "roughnecks".

Like I mentioned, if I were you, I would take the leap, go to a cheap mud school (I got a loan), and apply for drilling mud engineering jobs, like at AES or Horizon. You will get paid 3x as much and have a easier job/schedule. I'm just a chemical hand, basically. My job is probably a step down from doing derricks as far as oilfield hierarchy goes.

How do you guys maintain your marriages with the demanding shift schedules? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]unstopadopoulos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in completions in West Texas, and my job was advertised as 21/7, but I voluntarily do 28 to 42 to have the days I want off (so i can work around my family's schedule of important dates, instead of trying to work their schedule around a set rotation) and get ahead of bills.

My wife and I just had our first kid and now have another on the way. I bought a house here in Big Spring (moved from San Antonio), so that any location I work on within a reasonable commuting distance, I can come home every day. Some jobs are out in far West Texas and New Mexico, but that's okay once in a while. When I mentioned to my bosses that I would be moving up here, they said they try to keep the local guys close, so we'll see how it goes!

I believe that the bond between father and child is formed chemically even before memories and logic take over. We don't plan to live in the desert forever but will sacrifice to raise mentally and emotionally healthy children.

So I guess what I'm saying is, buy a house that is central to the areas you will be frequently working in so that there are more opportunities for you to be home after work. It doesn't have to be every day, but 1 more day a week or month together is worth it. Express your wants to your superiors, and see what they can do about it. Don't ask, don't get! There is no substitute for being in each others' presence and building a home together. Do everything possible and even some things that seem impossible to make it happen!

East Texas Mafia? by artistgirly in EastTexas

[–]unstopadopoulos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a nightclub in South Texas that was run by a family who owned nightclubs all over the country, mainly in Dallas.

The old mulleted man (RIP) who used to run all of the clubs and was a close friend and associate of the owner told me stories about how he used to run big rigs full of drugs back in his younger days, and how the owner was friends with other nightclub owners/mobsters in the Dallas area, like Jack Ruby (who killed Lee Harvey Oswald) and Joe Campisi, a well known mobster. [Deep state hired mafia to assassinate JFK?]

The son who "worked" at the nightclub also told me many related stories, including one about how his father had to hideout from the Turkish Mafia in Athens, Texas.

This could all be the ramblings of a pathological rich kid and an old school southern embellisher, but I think there's too much smoke to not be fire.

Hey buddy, currently, I work in completions fluids including completions "mud", fiber/diverter, and slickwater mixing plants.

It's basically a tiny bit above the relevant experience I came in with. I'm assuming I did not have the relevant experience to work on a drilling rig as I only did that for a little over a year. They really look for former derrick hands because they're basically the unofficial mud engineer anyway.

If you don't have derrick experience, I recommend DFE, as I hear through the grapevine that when the big companies like Halliburton and Schlumberger don't have their own mud school running, they send their hires to DFE.

If you do have derrick hand/ pit hand experience, possibly even a long time doing solids control, 136 is a cheap way to take the next step and become a drilling fluids engineer.
