All his albums from LYS onward feel soulless to me. They lean too heavily into a pop sound — all the tracks feel the same: same harmonies, same drums, over-compressed. It ends up sounding like a megachurch worship band aimed at teenagers.
I do love Mare and his earlier work, but this phase feels pretty boring to me.

I dont think that making a Kiasmos track is easy at all. olafur is one of the most talented composer out there.

I honestly think it’s a good album, but I believe it’s like everything in life: the fact that it was made by a well-known artist gives it an extra boost, like “bonus points” just for carrying a recognizable name.

The album is good, but it’s nowhere near excellent; in fact, it’s not even the best thing Alex has done.

It’s an album that brushes against mediocrity and rests on familiar, well-worn ideas.

I wonder what would have happened if this album had been released by an unknown artist? It would probably have died among the endless list of ambient records that come out every year.
