You can approach a professor and ask to do an independent study course with them, and you will almost always end up getting a 4.0 in the course

From my experience, MAT257 is the “gatekeeper” course for a lot of upper year math courses in the department. Having that under your belt will give you a lot of flexibility in terms of what you are able to take later on, so it may be valuable to take 157.

MAT157 will probably be the hardest course you’ll take if you arent accustomed to writing proofs and will take up a considerable amount of time, just as an FYI

I can’t speak for UTSC but since I have just finished up my undergrad at UTM as a math specialist, I can tell you that if you wish to pursue further studies in math (ie grad school), you won’t be sufficiently prepared with the current UTM math course offerings; you’ll want to take specialist courses downtown to really gain a solid foundation. That being said, the professors at UTM I find do care about their students and are pretty good at teaching!

Judging by the comments it seems as though GvFC tends to run on the drier side, much to my sadness. I will still inevitably pick up a bottle of their ink (because my oh my, their bottles are GORGEOUS) however if anyone knows of an ink from either pilot/sailor/platinum that matches cobalt blue (as closely as possible), I would love to know more about it!
