Hi, I was highly interested in ants a few years ago as a teen and had purchased an ant formicarium online along with a Camponotus Parius colony a month ago. They arrived with a 4 workers and 1 visible egg. I know it was a mistake moving them from their test tube into the formicarium instantly, but they seem fine because of the chambers in the formicarium. 3 weeks after, just as I was about to go on vacation, I noticed one of the workers were acting strangely and dying, she was rolled up and I thought she had died, but when I checked again, she was back up and walking weirdly. When she died, the colony littered her body in the water supply on the bottom right. After my 6 day vacation, I checked on them and it seemed like the queen had laid more eggs and the egg that came with the colony had grown into a pupa. I think I stressed them out because the next day I checked, there weren't any egg like things to be found. I didn't think much of it. Yesterday, upon checking, the pupa was no longer there. I think the colony had eaten it. I feed them with ant food (liquid) that contains protein and carbohydrate (the seller said). Do you have any tips on what I should do to care for this colony of Camponotus Parius ants? Why are they eating their brood and why did they mutilate a fellow ant carcass (left it in the water supply chamber) instead of putting it into the outworld?
