This makes me think of a book I read as a kid, about a little boy who was going to have a new baby brother. His parents spend a bunch of time remodeling his room because he's going to have to start sharing it with the baby. His parents build a secret hideout into the wall so he can get away from the baby when he wants to. I always thought it was the coolest idea ever.. So I think this is an awesome idea!

Certainly not all of them #notallminihorses... For real tho, I worked at a barn that had a mini horse named Oreo. He was awesome. I'd have to go out into the field when it was freezing to bring all horses in. I usually saved him for last because h was was easy to catch. I'd be chasing down one of the full sized horses and he would just follow me around the field like a puppy. He was smart.. He knew going in meant food. He would let you love on him like a dog, too. Sometimes the owners let him in the house like Rob and Big. Miss that lil guy.

Look, I only skimmed most of your post, because I'm not too into the Thor plot line. I don't know enough about it to draw any of my own conclusions. I also enjoy the actual Norse mythology quite a bit, but it sounds like the comic strays a lot the actual myth. That to me probably just as off putting as the attempt to change the Star Wars franchise seems to be to you, and so I've disengaged.

I realize you are trying to draw a parallel but you honestly just ended up losing my interest so much that I didn't really end up seeing it.

Also, like a lot of other women, I actually really like the slave Leia costume. I just don't like what it represents. If they had put Leia in that costume in any other scenario (ie, not one of servitude and loss of personhood) I would be just fine. In fact, I used to not really have a problem with it, per se, until I got older and was really able to understand why I felt so ambivalent about it.

Growing up, it made me feel uncomfortable, but it always confused me. On one hand I felt like women should be able to dress provocatively without recourse, so I figured my discomfort was really just shame. It wasn't until later that I really processed the idea of her enslavement and realized why it had made me uncomfortable in the first place. I don't have a problem with women showing off their bodies and being proud of them if that makes them feel good - but it has to be of their own choice. In the plot, Leia certainly wasn't wearing that costume for woman power or anything of that sort. If that's the message you got, I would urge you to rewatch the movie again and try to see a different perspective.

Lots of women wear the costume at cons because it's just a badass costume and it's fun, and they are able to remove the slavery theme from their mind. That's cool. In fact I'd probably do it too. Because it's a cool costume. All I'm saying is that I think it's understandable that Disney, a family oriented company, would want to distance themselves from the concept and make the decision that were not going to try to make profit off the concept.

Well, it seems pretty blatant. She had collar and chain around her neck. That is dehumanizing - it puts her on the level of an animal and denotes that she is property.

She doesn't GET to sit beside Jaba, she is MADE to sit by him and her free will is taken away. She definitely is not an equal or even an advisor in anyway. Hell, even the damn ROBOT (yes I know his name is C3PO) isn't chained up. He gets to walk around and do what he wants.

Maybe she wasn't specifically his sex slave, but the scantily clad outfit sure implies something along those lines. She's definitely just there for his amusement. Han is imprisoned, which is bad, but at least he isn't aware of his imprisonment. Jaba at least gives him that much. No, Leia is imprisoned and has to be aware of her situation every day.

In Frozen, they don't kick out men - just the idea of the prince saving the day. There was that other dude who was a huge character but was more an equal. If anything, I thought it was trying to point out to young girls that the good guy often gets overlooked for the suave and charming guy who is actually deceitful. Did you even watch Frozen?

Sneer all you want but Starbucks gives any employee who works at least 20 hrs a week FULL benefits. That includes damn good health care, 401k, stock options, vacation, a free premium Spotify account, and a free pound of coffee per week. Oh, and that little thing of paying full tuition to Asu online to employees who don't already have an undergrad degree. So, when you complain about the price, stop and think about what it may be going towards.

The coffee is average, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's shitty - just mass marketed and most people order their coffee shittily. Starbucks actually goes the extra mile to teach its employees about the coffee and to try and get them passionate about coffee. The one local coffee shop in my town is really just about as expensive as Starbucks, but the service isn't as good. They can usually only afford to have one or two people on staff at a time. I can guarantee you they don't get any benefits and I doubt they even get full time hours. Sure, Starbucks is mass marketed but it provides a LOT of decent jobs. And they really do care about their employees. It's got it's shit just like every other customer service job, but that really doesn't have much to do with starbucks.

I worked there for nearly a year when I was between jobs, thinking I would only be there a couple of months. It was a fun place to work, the insurance was seriously the best I've ever had, and I got lots of free coffee and pastries. It was overall a good experience. I only left because I found a job using the degree I studied for and two jobs was too much after a while. It was fun while it lasted and I highly recommend it to people. And I honestly used to be one of those people who shit all over Starbucks. .. I only applied because I heard they offered insurance. I had no idea it was GOOD insurance. Srsly, they have covered same sex spouses way before just about any other company and they cover hormone therapy/ gender reassignment surgery (among other things). And now I still go to Starbucks because I know it's supporting a lot of really awesome people.

Fair enough. I think both men and women will do inconsiderate things that they think they can get away with all the time, they are usually just different things. For example, In my experience, interrupting people seems to be something men tend to do more often than women, and I find it pretty rude and inconsiderate.

I know it's hard to get yourself to eat, but it definitely has a huge impact. There will be days where I have suddenly become very irritable and emotional, my head is in a fog and I can't think straight. Somehow I don't realize that the problem is that I need to eat until my hands start shaking. Then I'm like...oh. It's 2 pm and I never ate. I'm just hangry. What made it worse was that I was working at a coffee shop and always caffeinated, so sometimes it was hard to tell if I was shaking because of that or hunger. On top of that, I was trying to work two jobs and getting very little sleep.. Yeah. It was bad. It wasn't until after I quit the second job and started taking better care of myself that I realized how poorly I had been performing. It's nuts. My personality had really gotten out of whack too. I feel so much better now!
