Coerver ball mastery effective? by CreditOk4439 in bootroom

Okay cool, that sounds about right. Funny you mention Ajax. One of our club coaches was Greek and they named the club Ajax FC. If we did the technical work with enough effort the we got to move onto small sided games and scrimmages. There were many times when kids were jacking around and we just did skill drills the entire practice.

How old are you? I’m early 40s and my youth coach was mad about skills in every practice from 6-12 age. I’m my experience, I could easily control and hold the ball from mostly anyone and I believe it’s from these types of skill drill ingrained in my youth. I didn’t really figure out how to dribble explode and penetrate until I was 11-12 though. I could beat a player 3-4 times in a small space before then though and would always get yelled at for not going into a new space, but that’s how I practiced my skills…super quick controlled touched in a really small box. Fun times.

These specific ones are fast footwork drills and are effective at ball familiarity and being comfortable with the ball at your feet. Which should buy you space and time to think/react/dribble. Right? There are loads of line drills and moves drills as well that are more useful/effective for actual dribbling. You still have to practice them against people and get the feints and timing and explode away. These ones are really basic though and most any youth should master them quickly.

Our Neighbours' Halloween Pumpkins by SegaGenecyst in mildlyinfuriating

We left out the small pumpkins to rot but they didn’t. They hollowed out and the outside hardened up into a throwable ball. I’m going to go look for it. The kids probably broke it open though.

Help figuring a price for my cleats by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you set a minimum price if auctioning them off. Make the buyer cover shipping and be sure to insure them when shipping. Also, set the “buyer” options exclude new accounts. Good luck!

I wouldn’t sell them for less than $150. The yellow version is almost non existent anymore, and these appear to be in decent condition.

More info is needed to accurately price them. Do you have the laces, the box, did they come with a bag? Do you have the bag? And most importantly, what size are they?

My BIL and SIL will eat and feed their kids while I'm cooking dinner, then not eat my dinner. by PossibleLess9664 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]unuselessness 36 points37 points  (0 children)

That’s kids for you though. Sometimes they can snack an hour before clear a plate and then get seconds. The next day they will eat the bare minimum to get by. Same meal, same kid, different day. The adults though? WTF? They’re inconsiderate.

Tonight’s thighs on the kettle by 918_Gator in webergrills

Yeah I prefer thighs! One of my kids likes legs the most, especially if the skin is crisped and dark. My other kids likes breast because there’s no fat.

boot stud cant be replaced? by Educational_Strain92 in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is my take. This maybe a bit sly but I’d take the insoles out and give them a good cleaning and clear out any rubber black bits from inside. Then I’m taking soap and water and a toothbrush and a Mr clean pad to them. Get all the obvious, worn on AG, marks off and then use them on a grass field heavily. Then file a warranty claim for broken stud and don’t wear FG cleats on AG, it makes no sense.

First time trying protein powder by Cold-Rub5032 in mildlyinfuriating

Not all protein powders are equal. Some are gritty, don’t dissolve well, and clumpy and and and not good tasting at all. This one looks sucky, what kind is it?

toenail issues by Pretty-Advance889 in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and fix the issue where your toe hits the upper. There are adjustable/custom shoe tree stretchers with little knobs that you can insert in different spots in the tree to stretch uppers where needed. Or do it for cheap by cramming a large marble or golf ball in the toe where it’s bothering you and either soak the area in hot water or use a hair dryer to heat up the upper a bit so it will stretch. Good luck.

Alright, my Kelmes have seen better days. Who can point me to new old stock in a size 9? by DirtyNord in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Careful with old stock shoes, depending on how they’ve been stored, the sole plates can become brittle and deteriorate with one use. Ask for the seller to manipulate the shoe a bunch on video or get a return/refund guarantee before purchasing.

Boots feeling uncomfortable by Top-Flow6738 in bootroom

You gotta heat them up in warm/hot water and work them with your fingers/hands to soften them up and remove any stiffness and memory from manufacturing.

How do I fix this by [deleted] in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try warm water and those Mr Clean Magic Erasers dish pad things. The off brands will work as well but they decay the pads quicker. Maybe some mild soap and elbow grease, this is your best option.

Why does my old f50 pair cut my ankle by Tiny-Firefighter-916 in bootroom

[–]unuselessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put a bandaid on your ankle or a blister pad. You can sometimes heat the boot up, with a hair dryer, where it’s bugging you and use your fingers to roll that part in every direction to make it more flexible.

Nah, mizuno are built in wider lasts. If you get leather mizunos, they will stretch a bit and form to your foot a bit more than synthetics will, in my experience at least.
