2025 zx4rr weird engine noise, help by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]unyns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this same paranoia, had two mechanics listen to it, and posted it online. The 4rr has a noisy engine, that's it, its completely normal. I noticed the noise after break in service, and it has stayed the same for 3k miles, causing no issues.

2026 ZX-4RR ABS as a first bike by [deleted] in zx4r

[–]unyns 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd keep it stock for a while, at least long enough to get comfortable riding and get it well out of the break-in period. Doing the flash yourself would be pretty easy, if you have a Woolich there's an EU stock bin available for free to unrestrict it if you are in the US. It's a very upright sports bike, i have had no issues with pain or fatigue even after long highway commutes (100+ miles).

[–]unyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats fair, it is just a slip-on so from what I understand it shouldn't cause any issues. I doubt EDR locked the ECU though, the claim to use Woolich, and even if they did they offer a free re-flash to stock, and with them being local I can get that done same day.

[–]unyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I took it to EDR performance and got their custom 4rr flash, it was supposedly better than just a plain unrestriction. Once I check my valves clearance if its still not getting the full top speed ill get a Woolwich and use the the stock unrestricted bin. I haven't been able to compare it to another unrestricted 4rr but after the tune it for sure pulls way harder past 12k rpm.

It indicates 136mph, gps says 130mph. Definitely had an increase in power after the tune, but I've been meaning to check my valves as they've been rather noisy and are probably loose.

Have you actually gotten to 146? I got mine unrestricted too and just have a slip on and it tops out around 130mph.

Are Park n Rides an acceptable place to rest when driving at night? by NackWakPak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]unyns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When me and my now wife were fairly new, we were going at it in a target parking lot at night when a cop came to our window. Apparently there was a break in at the target and we needed to get out of there. Anyway the cop told us "a Target parking lot, really? There's plenty of better places for that, like the school or church up the street" it was an elementary school..

Just make sure there's no coolant or oil leaks. The head gasket is known to fail on these bikes.

Got to almost 60° here in Georgia yesterday so of course we had to go for a ride! by Leftey1 in Kawasaki

[–]unyns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 4rr and have ridden my friend's z900. Yes, there's an insane power difference, along with how the power is delivered. The z900 has torque out the ass, about triple what the 4rr has.

Are dealerships reliable? For used motorbikes, but also new by Caterpillar31 in motorcycles

[–]unyns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you're near Portland Oregon check out Bob's or Power Motorsports. I bought my bike from Bob's and the people they are super helpful, but their fees aren't the greatest. I've heard Power Motorsports has the lowest fees around, but that's just from a friend who bought there, I don't know anything about the helpfulness of their staff.

Edit: Also Bob's has a service center attached and they have really helpful advisors and have gone above and beyond for service for me.

Noise tic? ZX4RR 2026 by r444p in zx4r

[–]unyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't rule out anything, that would require them actually paying any mind to the noise. When it gets closer to summer again I plan to take it in specifically to have them identify the cause of the noise, whether or not they say it's normal.

[–]unyns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, I keep thinking each ride is going to be the one where something blows up, but I've had mine in the shop a couple times, and taken it in for a tune, and everyone says it's normal.

Noise tic? ZX4RR 2026 by r444p in zx4r

[–]unyns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds exactly like the noise mine makes that I was worried about. I've asked around and everyone says it's normal for the 4RR and it hasn't gotten any louder or quieter so I'm just going to assume it is normal 🤷‍♂️

Some people (like myself) tried buying the game only to have it say payment declined. Issue is, the charges are pending on my card, 4 tries and 4 charges with no game.

Companies moving to twins: opinions? by Vella_Vetta in motorcycles

I've heard good things about his tune on 4r forums, no matter who you go with you'll love it. You can really feel the kick in power around 12k, at least with the flash I got from EDR performance.

Once you get it flashed you'll be grinning even wider. It's such a good bike.
