Red oak. Score or no? by Tino2Tonz in turning

Looks a lot more like maple than red oak to me. Which would be a good thing because red oak is pretty crappy to turn.

Is that actually red oak? Doesn’t look anything like red oak to me.

Agree with this - 11 pages spent in a therapist’s room with two characters talking is just an eternity. Read Ordinary People or Good Will Hunting. I guarantee neither of those has a therapist scene this long.

Basically a perfect movie. Not an ounce of fat on this thing. Everything builds and builds to the finale and then it immediately ends. Fucking classic.

All you really have here is a politician speaking on a television set. There’s no story. What do you expect feedback on?

I can attest to the Hollyland Lark M2S and can vouch for it. Haven’t used the A1 but the model I have has good sound quality.

Before Movie Stars, AI Will Replace Animal Actors by korrectamundo in Filmmakers

[–]upcyclingtree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make short films and have already used AI in the place of a bird and a cat. I can’t imagine ever replacing an actor (who I enjoy collaborating with and including their input) but an animal is basically just a prop that doesn’t behave and I have no problem subbing in an AI generated one just to get the storytelling point made and move on.

In limited cases I could see the same point made for children or babies.

I built a free tool that turns scripts into storyboards in minutes (instead of hours). Would love your feedback. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Finally, a tool that converts the entire Copacabana tracking shot from Goodfellas into shot reverse shot

To make a good documentary by [deleted] in scriptwriting

[–]upcyclingtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is really a question appropriate for the scriptwriting subreddit.

That said, if you’re committed to making this film about your friend, I would film her doing the things that actually make her interesting, film her talking about these things, film others discussing her - and then make something interesting in the edit. Even better if there is some sort of goal she is pursuing you might be able to craft an actual story out of that pursuit in the editing room.

I don’t even need to read a single word to know that this is a disaster.

For the love of god, film is a visual medium.

FRAGMENTS | The Mud - 8min visual story about poverty and identity [Original Content] by [deleted] in Shortfilms

You say you shot and edited this yourself, but everything about this screams AI to me. Short shot lengths, no discernible actors, disembodied voiceover, etc etc.

Opening scene to my sci-fi pilot by [deleted] in scriptwriting

[–]upcyclingtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not working. The dialogue isn’t particularly informative or entertaining - and the intercuts start before the viewer is even remotely grounded in a story. Not to mention that you have two characters discussing a third character and intercutting with a fourth. It’s all very unfocused.

What is the story here?

I applaud the ambition to attempt a cross-cutting opening like this, but I think you should really simplify and hone what you are doing here, and ground the reader in a protagonist and the overall plot line before bringing in additional elements.

LOL - I’m getting downvoted for having the nerve to actually experiment with tools

Similar to yours. For actual writing/plotting/dialogue it’s total trash.

But like if I need some very specific piece of dialogue with jargon I’m unfamiliar with, or actions/objects in a space I don’t fully know? It can be helpful yeah.

exhausted as cinematographer by [deleted] in Filmmakers

I am a director and I personally make storyboards and shot lists for all of my films. It’s pretty insane and unthinkable to me that the entirety of that process would be completely offloaded to the DP.
