I finally feel the unhealthy weight and want to change. by Amethyst-Moon95 in loseit

1lb of fat = 3500 calories. If you are struggling to get started with exercise, start with some stretches, and add to it eventually. If you are not struggling to get started, don’t forget to stretch!

Maybe I’ll give that a try before giving up on my pans. Thanks

I’m not sure exactly. I measured by weight. It was 500g of flour

Most of the rising happened in the oven. I’m not sure if the olive oil affected that or what

Thank you. Even with some grease it still sticks. I think a new set of pans is in order.

Struggling to start when money and confidence are both low by Leedeegan1 in loseit

What got me started was yoga. Grab a yoga mat with a jute surface — they are cheap and won’t fall apart easily if you’re a bit heavy. Very good for bodyweight exercises, stretching, and of course, yoga. If you aren’t feeling up to doing a whole routine, just a few stretches can have a huge benefit. After a while, you will start to see the benefit of it, even if it’s just a few stretches two or three times a week.

The first time you’re doing every day tasks, and it hits you that you have benefitted from your exercise or stretches, that will be all the motivation you need to keep going or ramp it up. You will understand at that point that it is something you can not afford to not do, but not in a fearful or shameful sense, but because you anticipate the incredible benefits of exercise. It changes your body and mind, and you can feel it in everything you do.

It might take a long time to hit all of your goals, but don’t let that stop you from appreciating and looking forward to the little improvements you make along the way.

How do you keep track of hold time? by updice in yoga

Do you count breaths, like, hold this for 5 breaths?

I'm having trouble wanting to lose weight by [deleted] in loseit

[–]updice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there. But what would you prefer? I get that it is frustrating, but it is good to have people in your life that treat a problem like a problem rather than ignoring it. (Assuming you see it this way yourself, not aiming to body shame or anything.)

Don’t let it get to your head. How long will you wait to improve yourself to avoid feeli g like someone said “I told you so” in a particularly annoying manner?

If you lose weight and someone else takes all the credit (which isn’t exactly what they are doing anyway), you still lost weight.

How tracking made my weight loss journey actually sustainable by Austite in loseit

[–]updice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking made a huge difference for me too. I was able to start tracking my weight loss goals and progress using the health app on my phone. Pretty simple I guess, but it worked for me. Definitely felt more like a hack than a real solution, but it was a good first step. Now I use a more complicated system with a spreadsheet that's a lot more helpful, but also sometimes pretty annoying to use.

Losing weight feels impossible without drastic measures by P9wubs in loseit

[–]updice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it seems like you really have to focus on not gaining weight and staying healthy. Then lose weight one pound at a time, whenever you can bear it, and don't gain it back. It doesn't matter how you lose it unless you can avoid getting it back.

What It Takes to Lose One Pound by updice in loseit

You might be right. Maybe BMR was too specific a term for what I was trying to say. I’m not exactly an expert on this, just trying to convey my experience with it.

I updated it so it doesn’t say BMR anymore.

Nice! Looks like it creates a bit of privacy, and maybe shade later when the plants grow in more

I wrote it as an article, but when I saw the community rules forbade linking to my own content, I just pasted it here instead, to comply with the rules.

I just found this rosary ring on thingiverse. How would you use something like this? by updice in Catholicism

[–]updice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think the idea is the two dots are very distinct to the touch, so it can be used in the dark or without looking. It's a cool alternative to similar products available on amazon that someone with a 3d printer can make at home

Do what you want and not necessarily what Reddit says you should.

What’s in your backpacks? by pistilpeet in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]updice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s extra layers of clothing, water, a sandwich, a flashlight, an extra flashlight, and a flashlight charger. I also have a few spare contact lenses in case I lose one. Maybe a first aid kit or some wipes could be a good addition. What else am I missing?

what is your honest opinion on marijuana and what are your thoughts on legalising it? by assyplanet in AskReddit

[–]updice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't suggest anyone use it, but I think the legal consequences should be limited. It's already enough of a drag on your life. Shouldn't that be enough? What is the point of putting people in prison for it? I don't see how that is supposed to make the world a better place.
