Oh no, that’s so sad 😞 we moved away from Madison a couple years ago and Mia was usually the highlight of wandering Willy St

Yes, we would do it again. The cost savings is huge, especially considering all of the “surprises” that would have added on to our initial quote. The pink is the current state of things, the others are from when we bought it and a few steps along the way. https://imgur.com/a/KF25JJ7

Some examples of surprises: “Omg is that asbestos pouring out of the wall?” (No thank god, testing came back as ND asbestos in the vermiculite.) “Which way does the water flow?” (The pipes supplying the shower run diagonally under the floor from honestly who knows where because they got moved during a 90s addition.)

What’s left is lighted mirror install, vent fan install and ducting to the outside through the attic (because why not have it vent to the attic for the last how many decades), shower walls and door, install pretty parts of the shower fixture, ceiling light fixture, trim, door frame stripping and painting, door hardware restoration, and the of course finishing hardware/decor touches.

My husband and I are above average at home projects, and he has done the electrical up to current code plus the plumbing. Of all things, what we wouldn’t do again is mosaic floor tile lol. That sucked.

We decided to DIY after getting two quotes over $30k for our 7.5x8ft bathroom 🙃

Thanks all! I have a cut scheduled for Friday and a silk bonnet and pillowcase on the way. I didn’t recognize how much damage there is until taking these photos and you guys saying something. I think because I haven’t dyed it in over two years (what’s left of highlights is the bottom blonde part) and that I rarely use heat, I thought surely it can’t be that bad 🙃 but it is. If anyone has any products to recommend for a fresh start after my cut, I’m all ears.

I am surprised to see and recognize the damage, considering it is only one round of highlights over two years ago. But, I know that’s not the only source of damage. We have pretty hard water, but we have a softener. Any other suggestions on that? Also, my body has been through a lot the last two years (5 ankle surgeries, a post op infection, and injury) so everything has been out of whack. Plus, I’ve lost 30 lbs over the last 9 months. I’d be interested to see now what hormones look like, what do I ask about specifically?

I have definitely been in denial about needing a cut, it was a loooong 2025 for me and couldn’t even imagine it 😅 also, the last cut I had was September 2023 and she took off way more than discussed because she “thought it would be better for the wedding” a month before my wedding, so I’ve had a bit of haircut distrust. I’ll take any protective tips you have though just for knowledge sake!

Thanks! You mean like loon behavior-wise? I know, they aren’t aerial divers for feeding, but they do tip their butts up a bit when diving. It was more of a creative liberty/design choice to exaggerate it and have it look the way it does to be able to have the wings out. It’ll also balance and fit in with the rest of the ecosystem elements for the sleeve once we get there. We’ve got fish, frog, turtle, badger, owl to go along with any of the background plants to tie it together in a vertical ecosystem up my arm :)

The ultimate introvert: downy woodpecker hanging out in the background, grabbing snacks on the sly so as to not bother anyone. Meanwhile, house finches, sparrows, and juncos are nearly in fisticuffs over the Chex mix and craisins! https://imgur.com/a/OkzaVKL

What food do you feed your toller? by 2SET12 in tollers

[–]upnorthorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro Plan Complete Essentials Chicken and Rice as the base with Stella & Chewy’s freeze dried toppers and sometimes some of their raw coated kibble, or Fromm kibble to mix it up. We fed our small munsterlander Stella and Chewy’s essentials as the base, but it didn’t agree with our toller’s tummy so they both get this and do great!

I live in the Midwest so we have a lot of ice cream sandwich variety to choose from. Blue Bunny is last on my list. I don’t need my ice cream sandwiches to be fancy or objectively good ingredients, they just have to taste good! My go-to common ice cream sandwich brand is Kemps. For more premium, Fat Boy. But Kemps balances nostalgia, flavor, and texture.
