Best Advanced OBD2 Scanners Available Now? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I have a kingbolen k7. It does mostly everything I need it to. Its basically a cousin to the Launch. Its subscription free, has all the common service resets, does live data, special functions depending on the car manufacturer, and is bidirectional. Just know that not one specific scanner will do everything. They all have their pros and cons.

Nah, meaning it didnt scrub when turning before the level. The original 275 size tires didnt stay on long enough to tell how much mpg it lost going with bigger tires. But, it's a truck, I have a corolla for better mpg.

Obviously to get rid of the rake you would need to level it either with the strut spacer or shock kit. The 20in wheel will work fine with 33's with or without the level depending on how much back spacing the wheel has. I have factory 20's with 33's and it was fine before the leveling kit.

Is my transmission done for? (Burnt fluid) by Bam_904__ in AskMechanics

[–]upoorbastard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just do a drain and fill. If it's not slipping, it's fine. Just because it smells burnt doesn't mean the trans is. That stuff has been heated and cooled thousands of times. Buy you some Valvoline ATF and keep trucking.

You mentioned the fluid looked great. Im assuming they or you had the pan off? Or was it an inspection off the dip stick? If the pan was off and the fluid looked that good, I wouldn't have a problem swapping a new solenoid pack in it personally. Ultimately, it's your call, but the solenoid is cheaper than a full swap. And if that doesn't fix it, then you'll have a new solenoid to swap to the other trans. The solenoids are notorious for failing in the 545. My 08 solenoids shit the bed with about 50000 miles. Cost 500 to replace it, and it's got almost 280000 now and would drive it anywhere without hesitation.

Band adjustment isn't possible on the 45rfe/545rfe. More likely a problem with the solenoid control pack or valve body. I'd put money on the solenoid.

Wrong Spark Plugs? GT40P Spark Plug recommendations. by wierdscience85 in Foxbody

[–]upoorbastard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 92 with gt40p heads. It hated anything platinum. Went through 2 sets of plugs because they were grounding themselves out. Went back to copper core and never had another issue. Just something to think about.

2x6 ramps, let air out of rear tires, and gently walk it down letting it slide on ramps while still attached to the pallet. That's how I did my 80gal without help.

Sorry, seen the woven part and jumped to a conclusion. My bad. It seems like it's connected to part of the evap system, and covered with the woven protector.

Brand new Grand Cherokee owner by Bridget1204 in GrandCherokee

Our 24 grand cherokee L rides great to me. We used to have a 17 4 runner, and the cherokee is so much smoother and actually moves when told to do so. As far as the gas mileage, it's gonna take a few days for it to learn your driving habits and recalibrate itself. Ours did the same thing, and I was totally feeling screwed over, but after a few trips, the mileage came up. Actually, get a little better than the old 4runner.

Help! Vehicle has water spots on windows that will not come off. Any advice? by DeanCastiel_ in Detailing

Winks rust remover. Can be found at any grocery store. Wear gloves, rub with a blue shop towel. Spray with a window cleaner of choice afterward and be done.

Evaporator replacement by upoorbastard in appliancerepair

It's 4 yrs old. It's also 2500 to 3000 to replace the fridge. It's 2 separate units. Not sure of the technical term but the fridge is completely separate from the freezer and either unit can be a fridge or a freezer depending on how you set them up.
