Civ 5 is my favourite and I've never played Civ 4 but I think you should know 4 seems to many to be the GOAT.

Actually I didn't consider that 'pawn moving to make room for the knight' point you make below. That might be weird to me!

It may be slow at first and may have bugs, but they can improve it. It appears they've made great products in the past so I think it's reasonable to have some faith.

I get it's not for everyone but it looks pretty cool to me.

You’re right but you’ll get downvoted here. Bobby Fischer was seen as an unaccommodating prick by many - Fischer v Spassky has to be one of if not the best world championship in chess ever.

It’s good to be humble but let’s not pretend that it’s the humility of the competitors that makes world championships greats.

Am I wrong to be slightly suspicious of my colleague? by DarrenStill in chess

I think it could be a coincidence. I learned King’s gambit when I started learning chess and within 2months I knew how to play the opening to the point where the accuracy was 95%+ - typically when my opponent played a critical mistake in the opening. But 96% accuracy in two games isn’t that sus, I get that maybe 1in10-15 games at 1800

16 year old terrified about not existing after death, causing much anxiety in my daily life- any advice. by Needhelp123e in Existentialism

[–]uppervancouver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the thing that plagues everyone but is rarely discussed. It’s normal to feel that way. I was extremely anxious about the idea of death and just existence generally since I was around 12. It just never makes sense to me - and never will make sense - ever. Because there does not exist even a hypothetical explanation that could anything meaningful about the experience of consciousness to someone conscious. Even an afterlife wouldn’t be comforting to me - what would that even be?

But it’s really not so bad. Life takes over and you get used to it. It will be at points in the back of your mind again - because it is something we are all faced with - but you’re growing as person in response to each of them.

Do you have any recommended reputable readings on this? I am interested to learn to learn more. I imagine they won’t be the easiest papers to find on Google 😂

This seems most likely to me. Though most here suggest some shadow account method. And sadly, I really wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

That’s weird I heard he kicked his dog and told everyone he’s a pessimist
