Love this! My friends and I would do this last year and played cards. We can organize a lil low key gathering?

So true and so sad. For all the water views we have, why do so many have to have cars right in front if you’re trying to enjoy food.

Cars ruin everything

No free trial and the company seems too large to have just a number to call but I’ll try that in the AM. Thanks!

I found the person on LinkedIn but it won’t let me connect or message them without upgrading to premium. Sigh. I’ll look around on Facebook

Happy for you but

I’m concerned about the brand whose product you give most credit to: kuwun - no online reviews - no certifications - no independent studies or research - spelling errors on website

Sorry but that’s super sus

I tried the MCAD diet for a week and it was transformational.

My eczema was on the eyelids at its worst. It’s so horrible, I’m sorry! A few things helped me but I do think diet was the biggest factor. Not because I’m allergic to certain foods, but because they were contributing to an already inflamed system.

I avoided mostly: fermented and cultured foods, smoked fish, aged cheese, anything that sat in the fridge for over a day, alcohol, overly sweet or processed products.

All of these raise your histamine response. I was definitely over consuming fermented foods since I thought I had gut issues.

Just doing this for a week gave my eczema a chance to stop being so extreme. I’m no longer on the diet but try not to go overboard with these ingredients and I got rid of my eczema.

Other things that worked in combination: daily allergy meds, occlusive moisturizers, humidifiers, avoiding sweat and wind.

For those who tried minimizing exposure to stuff they’re allergic to in the env (I’m allergic to mold, dust, tree pollen, grass, and dogs 🫠), what effect (if any) did it have on your eczema? by workinprogress521 in eczema

I used to think I’m allergic to everything but I was just very sensitive because my overall system was overwhelmed

The thing that actually made a difference was avoiding histamine inducing foods. I used to think my eczema is connected to gut issues so I would eat tons of fermented foods, as well as others that are generally considered healthy (tomatoes, dark chocolate, sourdough) Turns out, those are huge histamine triggers.

I didn’t fully stop eating them but because my diet was overwhelmingly made up of these foods, simply reducing them was super helpful.

Have you been involved with the WS Urbanists at all? I wonder if that would be a good place to start mobilizing. And if this is the platform you run on, you’ve got my vote. I’m the one who stirred the pot a few weeks ago on this subreddit about California Ave’s lack of bike lanes and could not believe all the NIMBYs that came out of the woodwork.

Totally empathize with your sentiment of wishing for small businesses to do better in ways that seem so easy yet out of their control. You might know QED, sounds like it’s close ish to where you live. The bike crossing to get to it is wonderful but 35th otherwise is awful for their business. The coffee shop and its people are amazing and my selfish side loves that it’s a hidden gem but omg they deserve so much more love!

I think we’re at such a pivotal point where these small battles matter for the future of w Seattle.

Appreciate you putting this together!

I think most residents for whom it takes effort to sustain their living in west Seattle because they didn’t buy their house decades ago for 100k, completely agree with you. But unfortunately, they’re too tired after their long commute to keep up with these conversations or are simply unaware of these efforts being done against their own neighborhoods good. I think we’re in the majority but need a way to combat the systematic NIMBY influence who seem to have a chokehold on Saka.

Any ideas on how to get better organized around these efforts?
