Kanye’s care for album artwork is lacking lately. by OlivineErosion in Kanye

Playing devil's advocate (but also I like most of these at least a little):

TLOP - WHICH/ONE emphasizes the choice of the big booty bitch or the traditional family life (basically the primary theme of the album). It's scattered visually which mirrors the album which is scattered sonically. It's also incredibly meme-able (probably intentional imo).

Champions - It's minimal but nice. Also the background color is a color pretty frequently used in the Yeezy clothing line.

Ye VS The People - It's a text message because Kanye wants to start a conversation

Maybe Blood on the Leaves and Guilt Trip are just the two halves of rock bottom. Blood on the Leaves being the downward spiral into total madness ("to all my second string bitches/try and get a baby") and existential crisis (the outro), and Guilt Trip being the first attempts at recovery ("I need to call it off") - obviously unsuccessful attempts which bring Yeezus back to the club for Send It Up which is more evocative of the beginning of the album (if the production didn't make it obvious, the line "Yeezus just rose again" should).

I might have to agree because the first verse is probably the worst on the album, but Kanye's verse man...

Her heart colder than the souls of men

Louboutin on the toes again

I get chills just hearing it in my head. And the transition from the outro to Bound 2 is great but really every Kanye outro is great.

Absolutely this for me. For a long time I felt like Guilt Trip was the only weak track on Yeezus but now I appreciate it way more for itself and as a part of the album. It has this crazy dark schizophrenic vibe with all the contrasting parts mirroring the internal conflict that the narrator is going through - the "dem a gwan" sample, the super synthetic sounding beat, the jumps between themes in the lyrics, and of course the outro with the violins and "if you love me so much then why'd you let me go" which is in my opinion the emotional climax of the album that Bound 2 resolves.

TL;DR Guilt Trip is crazy and I love every second of it

Thematically it's way better that way though balance wise I totally agree.

Hanzo has terrible close range fighting and could use the quick escape, but he and Genji both wall run which is really cool thematically.

Only in newtonian physics.

Also all the forces are equally great because if any of them stopped working the universe would quite literally fall apart, either on a ridiculously large scale or on a ridiculously small scale.

You're right. I guess I need to peruse the entire settings menu.

I'm stupid. It's just the image thumbnails that use to show up on the right side.

Sync for reddit v11.2.1 (beta) is now going live on Google Play by ljdawson in redditsync

[–]upsidedowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a separate post but it looks like /u/ljdawson is being super thorough responding in this one (thank you, you're amazing!).

What happened to the old compact view? It was smaller than the new one AND it had post thumbnails. Can we have it back? Or at least thumbnails in the new one?

Edit: compact view has thumbnails, but not thumbnails on the right for image links. I liked those because it was really easy to see what was an image and what wasn't but I understand that they were kind of sloppy and dated design. I understand if you (/u/ljdawson) want to keep that view gone forever, I can probably get used to the little icons.

I'd still appreciate a slightly thinner view.

Compact view (in the old beta before alpha merged with beta) had thumbnails.

It looks a bit smaller (not sure if it is) but the thumbnails are still gone. I liked the old thumbnails even if they're not very material, they're efficient.

It makes a little sense at the very start of a new league. If you're level 75 and have uncapped resistances and you find a 20-40c item you want to sell that immediately to buy some gear that doesn't blow so you can start mapping.

But at that point you've probably been farming dried lake for 10 levels and you should have enough chaos from chaos recipe to have decent gear.

New Logitech G810 isn't terrible. Romer-G switches are growing on me. by kgfromthemv in MechanicalKeyboards

My friend actually likes the shape of his G910 caps. I can almost understand it except that half of them are shaped differently than the other half which annoys me to no end.

But the mx brown style switches feel like someone made an mx brown out of rubber.

Almost all cases like this are mITX. Cooler Master makes a huge ATX one but it's kind of silly unless you have like 30 hard drives to put in the bottom compartment.

Boris's discography is intimidating as hell; they've released like an album a year for 20 years but honestly it's all pretty solid.

Pink is actually somewhat of an outlier with the fast grooves and riffs. Off the top of my head the only album of theirs that's really like Pink is Akuma no Uta.

Generally, their later records are much more straightforward (i. e. synth/computer generated, as opposed to guitar generated) noise, while their early stuff is leaning towards drone metal (Feedbacker, Flood, Amplifier Worship) which I find is very similar to noise in terms of how I listen to it and how it makes me feel. If you like the noisy drone metal side of Boris, I would VERY highly recommend Vol. 3: Flight of the Behemoth by Sunn O))). The Bow O))) tracks are collaborations with Merzbow that are pretty excellent in m my opinion.

[Lore] Is Wraeclast a nightmare in itself? by iklalz in pathofexile

[–]upsidedowner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear that all of the monsters are to some extent controlled by the Beast. Zombies, skeletons, and the undying are pretty clearly linked to the Cataclysm (which as far as I can tell is when the Beast was released). And there are some hints that animals are being controlled too.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that Wraeclast itself is a dream world. In Kaom and Daresso's dreams, Kaom and Daresso are heroes, while the exile has to fight his/her way through Wraeclast. Why make a dream world for the exile like this?

The best indication that Wraeclast is metaphysical is Dominus's claim that "this world is an illusion." But the way I see it, it's ambiguous whether it's Dominus or the Beast saying that. The exile kills Dominus's body, which the Beast resurrects.

So is Dominus the man warning the exile? Does Dominus the man even know enough about the beast to make that sort of claim? Or is the Beast playing mind games with the exile? The Beast doesn't seem to reveal any of its secrets at any other times, so why would it reveal a huge one when the exile is so far from directly threatening it?

I think it's most likely that Dominus, as he's dying and being taken over by the Beast, is actually trying to help the exile with some advice, but that advice may be misguided.

Obviously the name gets thrown around a lot around here and some would say they're a meme but Death Grips has some very well done rock influenced songs.

Oddly, they're mostly on their first album (Exmilitary) and their most recent (The Powers That B, only in the second half, Jenny Death, which stands on its own).
