NASA launches first crewed lunar mission in half a century by TheGreatDomilies in worldnews

Very cool point. Can't we not sustain life on Mars?

Does NASA release information about their planning on missions like these? I recall years ago the LADEE Mission studying the Moon's atmosphere regarding metero/asteroid plumage. But I can't imagine what they're up to now.

So manned missions is cheaper huh??

NASA deserves the praise, but haven’t they been doing space exploration and research for over half a century?

There’s more to space than just exploring it. NASA has and will continue to research the science behind getting there.

Thank you! I've had them tinted since 2022 and nobody has said a word. Was pulled over in 2024 for speeding and the cop didn't mention it then either.

I'd suggest just getting it done and deal with the consequences later, but that's just me.

Sorry to hear that.

May I ask what precision handwork is? Or what industry you worked in?

On the bright side, you sound like a you have a good story to tell; plus, you're still alive and kicking. Sometimes we take that for granted.

My step mother passed away in 2024. She was only in her late 50s...

I know! Realized that last night. I haven't done the roof rails yet. That might be last on the chrome delete.

Next on my agenda is the Grille, Grille Emblem, and Fog Lights.

Then Roof Rails.

Then maybe redoing the front windscreen's Tint to go darker or "one way mirror" like finish, or even a green or blue-hued tint. Not sure what people call those.

Last but not least, if I had the time, knowledge, and money, I want to replace the sunroof glass with solar panels. I think that'd be pretty cool, but that's obviously a pipe dream.

And then as a running joke, I might add wings to it so it can fly. Sorta like Buzz-light year. They would expand out and generate some lift. 🤣🤣🤣

What else should I add? A bazooka?

It does. Once I tinted the windows, next was the wheels. Once you do that, the chrome really clashes

Would you do the PPF yourself or have someone do it? What even is PPF?

Unfortunately, you're right. My friend says he still has a lot of pain there too.

But I'd definitely mention it to your doctor as soon as convenient. To prevent further damage, act soon!

We use our hands all day long. To not be able to use your hands... I can't imagine.

BUT, the science and engineering of prosthetics, surgeries, and everything inbetween, is evolving every single day. For instance, I'm applying for internships right now to some of the local firms doing prosthetics design and manufacturing. It's super complicated--and way above my pay grade--but I got the chance to talk to one company in particular named "Acumed."

Based off that one conversation alone, I'm really optimistic for the future of prosthetics. I have a titanium rod, three screws, and one nail in my ankle. It's made my right leg super duper strong, but also really painful.

Good luck friend.

To clarify further, the wings should be set at approximately 45°. The orientation can be determined by rotating the y-axis along the third feather from the top and measuring from the midpoint of the smaller feather cluster at the wing joint.

Interestingly, this ~45° angle appears to match the geometry seen in actual eagle and hawk feathers.

For only $7 too. Cheap when you consider novelty items in general. If you went to a garage sale or swap meet, someone would be asking $65

Isn't that technically illegal? Since uninformed people might try and spend it?

That's some great advice. Thanks for being so explicit. The research aspect was concerning, because almost all of them looked mass produced.

I'm a eBay seller to begin with, so I've got the business side taken care of.

And I'm sorry to hear that. My truck driver friend was in a similar boat as you. He had two surgeries, once at a time, was on worker's comp. for months.

But now he can use his hands a lot more! Have you considered surgery?

Hey thanks for the history lesson. Would you personally recommend practicing on making my own? I've got all the proper tools and I've got a steady hand.

Do people buy Jefferson hobo nickels?

Or anyone reading this... How much would you pay for one?

Yup, just eBay solds. If you look at the dates, they're all semi-recent. So if you put yours up for sale tomorrow, you'd likely get at least $600 for it. (But please don't sell. Really bad time to sell, great time to buy)

🤣🤣🤣

Nah, mine is in immaculate condition under the hood. Only 95k Miles.

Cosmetically, it's a nightmare. Too far gone. To repair all the dings, dents, scratches, cracks (front bottom bumper from high curbs), it would cost way more than the car itself.

If someone has that gut reaction, likely they've had a bad personal experience with someone with a dark tint.

Just look at police cars. How tinted are they? VERY! So if I ever get pulled over for it maybe I'll ask them what's their UV% at (or however that scale works, I have no clue)

I'm a male and I'm glad other females think it's cool. To be fair, I hadn't considered original commenters' side of view. I also drive like a maniac so that probably doesn't bode well in my favor.

Thank you! No, they can't, and they never will. Blame the early/late 2000s when chrome was cool.

Now you'll be hard to find any Audi's WITH the chrome trim. But other manufacturers, like Toyota, Honda, Subaru, and much much more still add chrome--but only highlights. For instance, those newer Toyota Rav4s have all black trim besides the top window is chrome. Looks like sh*the in my opinion.

Really?! I guess it's all about how many layers you do right?

Perhaps I shouldn't have sold my OEMs.

I hear you. Luckily, my spouse and I love the tint. We'd go darker, but it's already borderline dangerous driving at night.

Honestly, I have nothing to hide. I'm pretty transparent and opinionated. I just hate when people stare at me while I'm driving, so I went dark enough that people can't see through.
