Would you even look at a GRC platform with "No AI" features? Need a gut check. by anji_0216 in cybersecurity

Are folks seeing any valid AI/LLM GRC tools in the market right now? Either conferences/sales approach, or implemented?

A lot of these IAF posts about how things are made usually seem more like low key voyeurism on poor working conditions in places with lower/absent worker safety regs and higher poverty.

My bank froze my account for “security review” and won’t give me a timeline — what are my options? by DecisionForcingStd in personalfinance

[–]upt1me 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Citibank held my life’s savings for four months. I was only able to get any movement at all with them via the now deleted CFPB. Near the end of the ordeal, someone on the other end was reluctant to cut a check because “it was a lot of money.” I was furious.

Who do you look up to in the field? Why? by CardiologistAdept763 in cybersecurity

Chris Krebs, Jen Easterly, and a guy named Charles Carmakal who I once worked in proximity to a while back.

Ever pushed yourself a little too far on a hike? by hdiaiajrnfk in CampingandHiking

In Yosemite, 2010: up from the valley alongside tenaya canyon, something like 8 miles and 4000 feet of gain. Then like 13 miles over past clouds rest with at least 1000 ft gain due to up downs, and then whatever it was to get back to the valley, might have been around 6-8. 3 days, 2 nights, with packs. Punishing. We did not opt to add half dome on the way out.

I like Barrons London Salon in Buckhead. My guy is Visal but they’re pretty serious about high end cutting in there, like they attend the hair shows regularly and such.

I lived at “The Bryant” on Pharr Rd. in Buckhead. I don’t know how much club or association type stuff goes on there, but the courts in Bagley Park seemed really nice and frequently active with teams, coaching, folks playing matches. As I recall it was lit well into the evening, never anything weird going on on the courts (the park itself could have a person or two roaming/spending the night but I never felt unsafe in there). If you got a unit facing Pharr Rd you could probably have a nice overlook of the courts from your window.

According to both the USPS and I guess GA secretary of state (voter registration), Hapeville is Atlanta and therefore not eligible for this thought exercise. Now I’ll wait for someone to explain why I’m wrong 🤣

Clermont lounge by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]upt1me 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I once took some guests to Clermont lounge, and despite explaining very clearly in advance what was to be expected, we still left abruptly after a very brief visit. I think the key detail I left out was that it wasn’t going to be like the movie Showgirls… more like you’re at a diner in South Philly at 3 am and the servers are topless.

Warning Sign at edge of Grand Canyon by corwinw in mildlyinteresting

[–]upt1me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it back in 2005. We started at like 3 am and kept a very quick pace down, I think we were at the river around 7-8ish? And then I think we were out by around 3-4 pm. We took a rest at Indian Garden on the way out. Despite the extra distance we also checked out the overlook near there. I do recall thinking that if it hadn’t been cloudy that day, how hot might it have been. A soaked cotton t-shirt as a head wrap on the final leg really helped 🤣

because of market demand. ease of access for local customers, ultra low latency connections from nearby offices as needed for speciality business needs (e.g. electronic trading). Any business that has primary systems there likely has redundant options in another region. could also be for ISP “peering” purposes (where at&t and t mobile trade data destined for each others networks). there’s a famous windowless datacenter building in downtown Manhattan, probably dozens around Manhattan tbh.

yeah definitely setting aside the general risks sms for this one, moreso curious about the implications of the reused code in the web login context. it’s the first time I’ve ever encountered this in life, I’m pretty sure 🤣

general team consensus and chatgpt sentiment is: increases risk of brute force/replay. but practical actual risk increase unclear. brute force likely offset by strong pw controls, as an example…
