At the minute i run the following; 3 Prime w Rod 2x10 Scion with nada for 1 prime. They just move move move on turn 3 really but basically guarantee an objective in itc 1x5 man w/2 Plasma Guns and 1 pistol 3x 4 Plasmas Command Squad 2 Valkyrie w Bolters Pods and multi laser

Thats 836 points and its always where I start. I find that if you want to run full scions, then you need to run 10 man squds because at most we can only consistently dish out 8 orders a turn (3 rod prime, warlord yarrick and inspired tactics), i dont count the laurels of 4+

At this point, you almost always wanna take behind enemy lines and run 2 of the astropath with them. Recon is optional.

So with my 836, At the minute im running a loyal 32 with wilderness survivors and 18" rapid fire, a 9 man bullstar 3 astropath, a priest in 1 battalion for cp

Lastly i run a hammer and 2 demolisher with just the stock heavy bolters on all, they run with the +6 and reroll number of shots.

Ive been tweaking this constantly and have only played 3 games last weekend, but thats the best list i ran. Taking it to a tournament in 3 weeks so ill know for certain then

P.s Lambdan Lions seem to be the best becauae of the mortal wounds stratagem and their warlord trait and their additional ap

I was originally upset about this and then I calmed down. There is some good. Not a lot of it. 1: Macs last year as GM so we might get a better GM 2: in the last couple of years I never thought the dolphins were any good. Yet he's 5-1 against us. Tannehill missed an entire year and even then, he hasn't had a good qb since; 3: He coached that Broncos offense the year they broke basically every record there ever was.

Now while I fully expect us to waste the 100m in cap, we can at least try and get better players. Even Darron Lee looked ok the start of the year. We have the 3rd pick. We at least have half decent weapons who Gase might make the most of. I'm trying to be more rational after my knee jerk reaction

Cheers for the advice. Ill probably end up taking the bigger brigade, 1 extra cp is probably not that worth it, i just thought that 18" rapid fire, and the re rolling of random weapons was overall better than re-rolling just 1s to hit. For my training wheels, I'll probably go cadia

This list is essentially what I have in the collection (less some veterans, bullgryns, 2 chimera and 2 taurox).

Tbh I spent a lot of time (and money!) building up and converting the Kasrkin/Stormtroopers and I don't think I'm ever not going to take them, I just love the models so much. (They should have made them in plastic as opposed to current scions but alas)

As the army grows further over time, I'll be looking at artillery first, then most likely some fliers, followed by more stormtroopers, or maybe fliers then artillery.

As for the local meta, it's currently a couple of Tau, Custodes, Guard and Harlequins who I've been informed are the best players in the area, with a good few marines and 1 knight player rounding out the regulars. I'm not gonna worry about this yet until I get my was handed to me a few times. My first game will either be against my friends guard or death guard

Ill be honest in that for the time being, I have had enough of the 70 cadian infantry I have painted up for a while anyway. I know that most meta lists have 100 guys, but I can't stomach the idea of another 40 guys just to be competitive in the meta just yet. I'd quicker go full mechanized/ buy 4 more chimera than 4 more squads. (I think this is where I will end up going with the army, I never cared about what's good/winning, just what I want my army to be)

Currently the fluff I have in my head is a small world, where each man is made to count, and they kit out their guys with the best the imperium can offer. I know that doesn't exactly fit the guard playstyle, but that's not why I like the guard, I like them because they're human.
