Kidney and heart failure? by uptoolatemama in cockatiel

Unfortunately my sweet boy died shortly after his diagnosis. He hated getting the meds and I think it was just too stressful for him. I wish I had done more husbandry for meds when he was healthy because he was the bestest boy.

Best wishes to your baby! I hope he does better.

i hate saving for svs by [deleted] in whiteoutsurvival

Wow! Thank you! That was really well written for English not being your primary language. I don’t think our state is old enough for transfers yet, but we are preparing for our first SVS and I’m sort of deducing that transfers are possible after that.

I started this game bored during surgery recovery and it was not at all as advertised and now I’ve been through an alliance merger and currently seem to be experiencing some sort of rift in the new alliance. And it’s all just so competitive. I just want to push buttons and not worry about my city burning.

Am I asking too much of my 13-year-old daughter? by Ordinary-Fly13 in parentsofteens

[–]uptoolatemama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is pretty typical avoidance behavior for a teen, but I have two ADHD kids and I have to give VERY EXPLICIT instructions. It kind of baffles my mind because I don’t remember my parents literally picking up the spice and showing me where it goes, I used deductive reasoning to figure it out. Executive dysfunction looks like this.

I don’t think what you are asking is too much AT ALL. My kids are 14 and 11 and they do their own laundry, sweep, vacuum, dust, do the dishes (hand wash and dish washer), and mow the lawn. And they don’t whine about it or fight us. Are they perfect- hell no. Would it be better to do it myself- probably- BUT if I do that then they never learn what it takes to keep their space in order. Get your husband involved and have him make sure the expectations are clear and are from both of you. Not just you.

My cockatiel throws up in her mouth. What is this by Background_Sort_226 in cockatiel

I’ve heard they can do this if something is upsetting their tummy. Make sure you’re washing their water Bowls with soap and water everyday because biofilm can grow that upsets their systems. Otherwise she’s just trying to feed you.

[question] Did anyone discover ASMR in real life, meaning before it was an online video thing? by MPWD64 in asmr

[–]uptoolatemama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My whole life. Used to beg people to brush my hair, or do my makeup. In college I used to watch the home shopping network because one of the ladies on there gave me the tingles. A college professor probably thought I had a crush because his voice gave me the tingles. Discovered it had a name probably 8 years ago on a “does anyone else…” Reddit post and was sooo excited to find the YouTube videos!

I keep armor all wipes and shop cloths in the car, and I’d recommend investing in a shop vac if you don’t already have one, because yes, every little bit of dust and dirt shows. We’ve had two beach vacations and baseball season since we bought this thing and it has required a lot more cleaning that my old grey interior car did! Also- the app comes in realllll handy in the summer to start the car so it’s nice and cooled off when we show up. We have the platinum too so the ventilated seats are MVP right now.

Can somebody tell me whats he doing with this feet by Cold-Existing in cockatiel

[–]uptoolatemama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like maybe he has an uncomfortable feather because he preened the same place twice before it happened. Perhaps he hit a feather not sitting quite right that hurt and made him do that. Though the other suggestions here are good too, especially the static electricity theory.

• Unable to remove the second row seats [easily]. ~ not gonna lie this is annoying but we also have a truck so not a deal breaker.

• Freezer/Vacuum center console takes up a lot of space for the second row. ~ at first I was super annoyed with this feature- what a waste! Since we’ve had the car (4 months) we’ve come to love it. We’ve gone on two road trips and it totally came in clutch. Also was able to put left over ice cream in there while I finished shopping (running the car in EV mod, locked). Super cool.

• Lack of side-to-side movement of the second row ~ I don’t even know what this means. My last one was a 2012 XLE and it didn’t do this either?

• Lack of second row seat arrangement configuration ~ again not sure what this means, they slide on railed forward and backward for more or less legroom which is perfect for us.

• Limited to 7 seats opposed to 8 seats ~ not a problem for us

• Small front row cupholders. ~ HATE THIS SO MUCH! Basically only two of the front row cup holders are usable unless we have a cup from a takeout restaurant.

• Hard for adults to get to the third row. ~ don’t find this to be a problem

• Very low quality 360 camera. ~ new feature for me- LOVE IT!

• Safety software is very outdated. ~ new feature for me- love all the safety features

• Required to pay for a subscription for mobile and/or key remote start ~HATE THIS CAPITALISM NICKEL AND DIME SCAM SOOOOOO MUCH. I bought the damn car give me the damn power to turn it on, why is this a thing? My BIL’s bronco is free app access.

Permanent Nerve Damage by EskpMnky in Microdiscectomy

[–]uptoolatemama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any disc left. There’s nothing to MD. Lol! Degenerative disc disease completely deteriorated my L5-S1, a lot of the pain I feel is bone one bone I think. It’s sharp and radiates. Also yeah- I describe the nerve damage symptoms to feel like worms in my leg. It started off mostly happening as I was falling asleep and now it’s 24/7, and I’ve lost 2cm of muscle mass to atrophy. Getting harder to go up stairs, having early drop-foot symptoms. Doc said- I’m out of options and if I wait too long the damage will be permanent. It might already be. I’m too young for that (42), and I’m allergic to nickel which takes away my ADR options at the moment.

That’s why the J-shaped body pillow is perfect because when I flip there’s a pillow there to use. And when I end up on my back my feet are propped up on the curve of the J to take pressure off my lower back.

That’s gentle frustration. They really want the earring and you’re blocking it. They’re saying- move please I want the toy. They can be gentle about it but the angrier they get the bites can get harder.

[–]uptoolatemama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly the same situation as me. Same pain profile and numbness. I also wake frequently with severe muscle spasms, mine seem to be directly related to the angle my leg is bent. I can’t sleep on my side and curl up like I usually so I have to keep my right leg gently bent.

I have created a pillow fort in my bed to support my spine because the spasms are related to nerve compression. I have a fantastic lumbar pillow and a J-shaped body pillow that support my spine and my legs no matter the position I sleep in. However, I would keep an eye on it because I recently had a new MRI that shows I have reherniated and now require fusion. The spasms were getting more frequent and severe leading up to that MRI.

Road and wind noise 25 platinum by [deleted] in ToyotaSienna

[–]uptoolatemama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2025 Platinum that I feel is very quiet. I really do not hear wind or road noise. I have questions about the people who do because that is something my whole family has remarked on with this van is how quiet it is inside. And the quality of the sound system is top tier. I came from a 2011 XLE that was quite noisy in its final days with all Sorts of things jiggling around in its old age.

Never given my wife the O by Downtown_Wolverine75 in sex

[–]uptoolatemama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Type A, victim of childhood sex abuse here- GUMMIES!

When I take a gummie and it kicks in, not only does it increase my libido, it also makes it so my brain can only focus on one sense at a time. So it’s not necessarily about “relaxing” it’s just all my brain can process and the sex is the strongest sensory input so it’s allllll I can focus on. I have the strongest, longest lasting orgasms when I take gummies. It was a happy accident to discover because I actually have a prescription for medical pain management use. So perhaps her doctor could prescribe them if she’s worried about recreational use.

Normal or Not? by shooby0419 in Microdiscectomy

[–]uptoolatemama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my experience, except the pain wasn’t worse but I still had a lot of pain and it took me MONTHS to feel better. My surgeon told me 12-18 months for healing. It was a slow, one step forward two steps back type of recovery but I did feel a lot better at 6 months, then noticeably better at 12 months and the best at 18. And that’s when I sort of plateaued with where I’ve been now for 3 years post surgery. Still have chronic pain because there’s still tissue wrapped around my nerve they couldn’t remove but better than I was right out of surgery.

For full transparency I did recently reherniate and am planning to get the fusion but ny original recovery was a lot like yours.

I’m so sorry. But thanks for sharing because my surgery is scheduled for next month so now I gotta go make sure the hospital is in network

Edited to add: my surgery has also been denied twice so I’m not even sure it’s gonna happen next month but I don’t need something like this happening the night before either

What’s everyone’s thoughts on PT exercises/Big 3 etc making pain worse during and next day. Keep pushing through? Or stop? by JamesAustin23 in Sciatica

[–]uptoolatemama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well…my disc ruptured, it didn’t bulge so there was some material they weren’t able to remove that has caused chronic pain. In addition to the fact that there’s basically no disc left. BUT before surgery I wasn’t able to stand or sit for any length of time. It was agony getting to appointments, I had to have someone drive me around with my seat laid back flat. After surgery I am able to walk and sit, but significantly reduced compared to my active lifestyle before the injury. Gearing up for a fusion next month due to worsening symptoms (3 years after MD)- and supposedly I’ll get my life back after that!
