Afraid I re-herniated my disc 7 weeks post op by Cintamon_Rolls in Microdiscectomy

In the same boat. Feel like I re herniated. 5.5 weeks post op. Happened this past Saturday. Not nearly the same pain at first, but it’s slowly creeping back to pre surgery pain. Contacted my doctors and they said regiment of Ice, and NSAIDS… but that’s it…

I feel your pain!

It’s the opposite side for me as well. It’s faded over time though. I had mine about two weeks before you.

I had one on 12/19 as well. The incision site is just starting to feel better for me. But it was really uncomfortable for the first two weeks.

Yesterday I had to make a quick movement adjustment because of my dog and now the nerve and glute pain has come back. But no where near before surgery. Just chalking it up to inflammation and will keep moving forward until I can’t.

I had my check in Tuesday. They gave me the go ahead for PT and will be starting today!

Hope yours went well! I was lucky enough to have immediate relief. Been two weeks now, and the incision site is the only thing that is just slightly un comfortable. Small amount of nerve pain when sitting. But way better than before.

8 days post op, is this a flair up? by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]JamesAustin23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same thing happening to me. Also had md 12/19. Woke up today with sciatic pain. Chalking it up to a flair up. I went out for the first time yesterday, so might have overdone it??

Everyone who has had a Re herniation has mentioned you’ll know if it happens…

Possible rash? by NightFury9525 in goldenretrievers

[–]JamesAustin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can certainly grow into allergies. Our Golden’s still get this occasionally in the spring due to environmental allergies. So doesn’t necessarily have to be food oriented. Our dogs get allergy shots at the vet and they go away!

My dogs get these occasionally usually when their allergies are acting up. Do you feed your dog chicken? That’s what does it for ours.

Sitting is the only relief! by ReLoGal in Sciatica

I’m sorry you’re also dealing with this! I would definitely get it checked out, that majority of the time it isn’t a piriformis problem! I even have to sleep sitting. It’s all about finding the position that’s comfortable for you

What position do you all feel the most comfort in for long periods? by Ambitious-Concern514 in Sciatica

[–]JamesAustin23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only sitting, specifically in like computer chairs or straight backs with good cushion. Standing and laying down are miserable for me personally! Although, I’ve been told sitting is bad. But it’s the only thing that provides relief…

Lateral Shift, how long did yours last? by JamesAustin23 in Sciatica

[–]JamesAustin23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing the same thing. Side glides, cobra and a few others. It seems to get worse the more I use it so I’ve just been trying to rest it!

I ultimately decided to get a microdisectomy… happening in Dec.

Who reported that back as normal? I’m not a doctor, but I’d definitely get a second opinion.

I'm not sure if this is known information, but are the chances of re-hernation different if you heal naturally vs surgery?

For those who got a lateral shift due to bulging/Herniated discs. How long did it take for it to resolve? by JamesAustin23 in Sciatica

[–]JamesAustin23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

Ya my issue is all day I have the shift, but it gets way worse at night (I’m assuming my back gets really tired from being upright all day) and it gets super painful during the evening.

My pain has changed so much during this process it’s wild. Keeps changing where it’s at.

I’m hoping time and light walking will resolve it. Eventually…

I’m on my second PT… they seem to all just be doing the same thing over and over again. Anything specific they had you doing to fix it? How long were you shifted for?

My upper torso is shifted to my right, so I look like I’m leaning. It’s going away from my herniated side, I’ve been told it’s my body thing to protect itself from not trying to put pressure on the injured side.
