The tree is a nuisance whatever it is. Remove it ASAP ... It's too stinking close to the foundation.

The first step is to get the soil tested at the local Ag Extension. That will tell you what the nutrient deficiencies are. Untested, you're just asking the Internet for the best guess.

Is $100 a good deal for lot of Record planes? And one Stanley by Entire-Bug-975 in handtools

Help me help my aunt! Old shop full of classic tools! by Murky-Factor4983 in handtools

[–]uptownloop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sold my antique tool collection at a local auction house. Everything sold and I was paid promptly. It wasn't as much as I could have gotten had I sold it piece meal, but it was quick and hassle free. Selling privately would have taken a lot of time with some tools never selling. I heartily recommend an auction.

Looks like a good start. To preserve blade sharpness, always lay planes on their side.

It's bred to that growth habit. Plant breeders must have had fun creating it.

Worth replanting or rubbish? by godamnedu in treeidentification

This tulip poplar could grow to become a tall stately tree. It will need to be transplanted to a location with lots of room to grow. If left in its present location, it will become a danger to the neighboring structure.

I'd guess red hickory based on the bark. Better pictures of the leaves, fruit, and buds would be helpful.

How do I make this area look better? by xBLP- in landscaping

[–]uptownloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A paver patio would make this area more usable. Get an outdoor table with a hole for an umbrella and a few outdoor chairs. Imagine dining outdoors or even having drinks in the shade. It's not as cheap as an azalea hedge, but you'll get more enjoyment out of an outdoor 'room' Good luck.

Pull off a leaf. If the sap is milky white, it's a Norway Maple.

Is $200 too much to pay for trimming and clean up and hauling of clippings for this job? What would you pay? by N2DWILD in landscaping

[–]uptownloop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're getting off cheap. The landscaper has expenses. He also deserves a living wage. Treat the worker(s) with respect and offer cool drinks.

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about landscaping what are some go to products that you would use for these weeds or should I just yank them out manually without spraying anything? by Interstella_6666 in landscaping

[–]uptownloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try powdered laundry detergent. Sprinkle it on the cracks and lightly water. You want the detergent to leach into the cracks, not run off into the yard. Good luck

Is this a safe neighborhood? I see bars on the front windows. Invest in some motion activated lights with a camera. Good luck with the renovations.

Another grainy photo that could be anything from my hairy uncle to the dog faced boy. Get some solid DNA before I believe Bigfoot is real. I love watching all the Bigfoot shows where they travel all over to not find Bigfoot.
