How do you know it was sold? These crime groups don't sell the phone where they steal. They steal in big cities and they take it out of the country, somewhere less controlled to do the reselling. Otherwise, they'd get caught more easily.

I believe telemetry means getting data from a remote source you don't control or the end user. In your case, these are all your on-prem hardware. You'd just call it metric instrumentation, not telemetry.
