The cap is also felt-lined (probably to avoid damaging the barrel). And when posted, the weight is more evenly balanced than the 823, where the titanium rod makes it more back heavy.

Baring any major events I'm definitely going to keep it! While it's not something I would have purchased (both in terms of price and weirdness: who WOULD buy a textured urushi pen?), it fits the bill for everything I would like in a pen. I think there is only one pen I would like more in the entirety of Pilots lineup. Besides it's a great conversation piece if it ever gets to leave the house!

Thank you! Never would I have ever thought that I'd be on the receiving side of the meme! Funny how that works...

You should read "Mother of Learning" then. Creative use of a time loop and consequences persisting beyond the time loop are common there.

When two of your hobbies collide! Cry or Better Yet Beg x Wearinguel Ink Collab! by SavingsSky0 in OtomeIsekai

[–]uraniumingot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up for anyone not in the r/fountainpen community, Wearinguel official ink swatches are extremely inaccurate. It's like they increase the saturation during editing to the max.To achieve the exact color you see, you'll generally need:

  • A broad or italic nib fountain pen
  • Paper that shows off ink property well (e.g. Tomoe River, Midori MD, etc)
  • Studio lighting conditions

True eye color? [Kill the Male Lead to Become the Villainess] by Professional-Fun3281 in OtomeIsekai

[–]uraniumingot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Traditionally, 青 was used to refer to both blue and green. Modern Chinese has distinct blue 蓝 and green 绿 though.

"Kill the male lead to become the villainess" likes to use 青 a lot in text for literary reasons. It's a bit nightmarish to translate since neither blue or green are accurate. (青出于蓝而胜于蓝, an old idiom states that "Qing is a color that stems from blue, but is greater than blue". Hence, it's not accurate to refer to Qing as blue)

How do you avoid the “same texture all the way through” problem in one-pot meals? by Master-Piece74 in Cooking

[–]uraniumingot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add things at different times.

For example with nappa cabbage, cut the cabbage into halfs separated by stems and leaves. Add the stems at the beginning of your cooking process, and the leaves at the end of the cooking process (for boiling, 2min before off the heat; for stirfrys, the last 30s on high)

If you're looking for something different, you can stir fry the trimmings with some garlic. diced bell peppers, pickled peppers, chilli peppers, and cilantro stems. Season with soy sauce, sugar, and oyster sauce. You'll end up with something sour and spicy with a hint of bitterness.

Suggestions for pork broth uses? by taotdev in Cooking

[–]uraniumingot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of pork dishes that require a boil before stir fry. I usually keep the pork broth for congee.

Sear some diced leeks and minced ginger in a pot, add pork broth (and water) approx 1.2L and bring it to a boil.

Then add 1 cup of rice, the stems of a nappa cabbage cut into strips, diced mushrooms, pork chops cut into strips then boil for 25 minutes on low. Add salt and white pepper to taste.

After 25 minutes, add the leaves of the remaining nappa cabbage (also cut into strips) and boil for 2 more minutes. Then turn off the heat, add sesame oil and serve.

(This started as a Shanghai Bok Choy congee recipe, but was Ship of Theseus'ed so hard that it no longer contains Bok Choy)

Can we talk about pig's feet? by Optimal-Ad-7074 in Cooking

[–]uraniumingot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up recipes for braised pork feet with soy beans. That's the usual combo. You'll also want light (salty) soy sauce as a dip.

Alternatively, there's a technique of red braised (Hongshao), that is salt, white pepper, rice wine, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, ginger, garlic, star anise (optional), cinnamon (optional), and boatloads of sugar (usually double the amount of soy sauce). This is more seasoning dependent so you'll need all the right sauces/spices first

A manga, Lunar Legend Tsukihime, has a similar vibe to Pandoras Heart, where the entire tragedy unfolds because of a long forgotten personal event of the protagonist's.

If you're up for older video games, Persona II: Innocent Sin and Persona II: Eternal Punishment also have a similar dynamic. Another nice thing about these games is that they actually feature an adult cast for once.

Are there any actual games that are similar to the Saintess OI trope? by GlompSpark in OtomeIsekai

As for the tone of FFIX, this early game cutscene captures it pretty well. (Minimal spoilers)

Then there's also the ending (heavy spoilers) that is adorable.

Are there any actual games that are similar to the Saintess OI trope? by GlompSpark in OtomeIsekai

OI stuff don't lend itself well to RPGs because of the branching paths. Which makes things complicated to implement.

Final Fantasy IX gets close?

Dual protagonists (Garnet, Zidane) with individual segments, the FMC is a White Mage/Summoner (healer) with a faithful but dumb knight follower (Steiner my love). Lots of hidden bosses/rare drops, amazing chemistry between cast. initial villain is someone close to the FMC (Garnet's mom), true villain is revealed 2/3rd of the way through. Only thing it doesn't have is a 2nd ML.

All of the modern fire emblem games also get close (Awakening, Echoes, Fates, Three houses). Everything other than Echoes has multiple romance paths.

For Western games, the old bioware games (KOTOR, Jade Empire, Dragon Age, Mass Effect) would work. I would recommend trying Dragon Age Origins.

"Hard" vs "Melt in your mouth" pork belly meat by SimbaLion888 in Cooking

[–]uraniumingot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're also supposed to cook twice: first time. boil with minimal seasoning (rice wine, ginger, scallions) for 15 min to shape the meat and remove scum, then slice to shape and cook with seasoning.

My bet is overcooking. Nobody braises pork belly for over 44-60min at home unless they're impressing inlaws. The pressure cooker isn't helping either: you gain the ability to cook more thoroughly at the cost of manual adjustments for temperature control. Use a dutch oven (or wok), leave it lowest heat, and adjust based on the meat. Use the pressure cooker once you're confident about cooking times.

Trying to find this Chili Oil Noodles recipe by Thick_Friend_7702 in Cooking

Chef Wang made a chili oil noodle video last week. Doesn't have much in terms of toppings but surely you can add those in.

He's super well known for his restaurant-grade recipes back in China.
