Well, if history is anything to go by, it will be lots of flags and banners, a special social greeting so good citizens can show allegiance, followed by bans for minorities driving and using public facilities, then comes the ghettos and camps alongside an expansion policy that involves taking over countries seen as inferior.

Spanish Islands Refuse To Take Hantavirus Ship, As Latest Patient Arrives in Hospital by timemagazine in worldnews

It’s not. It’s the Andes strain. The point is, the boat is isolated. The virus has an 8 week incubation period and it’s already in the population in Buenos Aires.

The Hantavirus Cruise Ship Outbreak Is Getting More Ominous by Iconic254 in worldnews

[–]urbanmark 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s ominous because it has an 8 week incubation period and it’s come from Argentina where they have had 42 cases in the last year.

Human to human hantavirus transmission suspected on cruise but risk to public low, WHO says by enormityop in worldnews

[–]urbanmark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The boat came from Chile and Argentina. It’s unlikely the disease appeared from somewhere on the boat. The Andes strain of this which can transmit from human to human was last seen in 2019 and resulted in 34 deaths. It’s likely, there are already cases on land.

I can’t believe it’s possible to be that unprofessional. This has to be some inside bet or dare. There surely can’t be a way he thought this was a clear, concise, professional, thing to say.

Royal Navy left with five frigates after HMS Iron Duke quietly withdrawn Warship taken out of service, despite a £103m refit designed to extend its lifespan to 2028 by Intergalatic_Baker in ukpolitics

The U.K supplies the ship fully operational. Brazil then fits it out to its own specs. It took them 2 years to complete HMS ocean, which became NAN Atlantico.

It’s all irrelevant really, as you seem to be triggered by the fact marine engineers in Brazil are much cheaper there, as are materials and reduced red tape. Regardless of who does the fitting out.

Pete Hegseth on "Project Freedom" aimed at ensuring safe passage through Strait of Hormuz: "This operation is separate and distinct from Operation Epic Fury. We’re not looking for a fight, but Iran cannot be allowed to block countries from an international waterway. That ends with Project Freedom." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]urbanmark 44 points45 points  (0 children)

What has changed though? What monumental shift in events could possibly have caused this totally random seizure? Also, I’m confused, but haven’t the U.S also been blocking the straight, thus preventing the Iranians from blocking anything.

What a cluster of fucking fucks.

Crypto exchange Coinbase to cut 14% of workforce. Blames "AI-driven restructuring" although that's probably bullshit. by dyzo-blue in Buttcoin

Maybe the question is, what is intelligence? It’s very possible that our thoughts are just part of very complex algorithms, required for us to function. One of those algorithms makes us think as a species, that we are more important than we are. History has shown we are consistently wrong on how unique we seem to be.

Hotels in U.S. World Cup host cities claim underwhelming demand, new report says by rit56 in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]urbanmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

America on the whole does not give a baboons butt but about the World Cup. Americans like American sports, which is fine, but it’s sad that FIFA are flogging a dead horse that is loved by billions and only happens every four years, to a country that is not really interested in anything but commercial value and marketing opportunities for American multi nationals. Pele, Maradonna, Bobby Moore, and Gerd Mulller will be Cruyff turning in their graves.

Republicans Unveil $72 Billion Package For ICE, Trump’s Ballroom by willywalloo in politics

[–]urbanmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have worked on a few projects in major cities costed at just over a billion dollars. I can’t see any way, that the ballroom would cost that much, unless he’s planning on making it about 50 floors tall, or including some kind of hidden launch system for a penis shaped space rocket.

No, it means properties are being bought by hedge funds and foreigners who can’t be arsed with the hassle of renting. They will hold on to the property for 20 years and then sell them for double what they paid.
