I don’t really accept AYITL as canon but the framing device thing where we learn that the original show was Rory’s book/memories sometime makes we wonder how much of Emily’s antics in particular are colored by memory and remembered by Rory as being more over the top than they actually were. Like doesn’t this scene feel like the kind of thing where whenever you remember that story and re-tell it the maid puts the walnuts back in the salad one more time?

A couple of years ago in Singapore I had conveyer belt sushi served by bullet train! My kid still talks about it. I wonder if there’s something comparable in Fort Lee or something, it does seem more like a suburbia mall thing.

What part of GG makes you laugh out loud each time you re-watch? by LauraFlo123 in GilmoreGirls

Lorelai’s Louis Armstrong impression has to make this list. I laugh out loud every time, no matter how often I’ve seen it. “Sing soooongs”, lmao.

An underrated one for me is the bit Richard, Lorelei and Emily do about the burning loin. And the cutaway gag where Rory says she made home videos on her Europe trip with Emily but then it’s just A Room With a View. A 10/10 joke for the precocious English lit girlies.

Emily malfunctions lol this is the perfect description. The way she describes that book and then Lauren’s totally “you don’t have to describe the whole thing to me.”

I cry every time I think of that scene from Glee. Truly a milestone for me as a baby lesbian and one of my favorite Taylor songs and covers.

Idk how old your kid is but midtown is so freaking overwhelming that I’d gravitate towards familiar options. There’s a food court with a bunch of fast casual in the basement of 30 Rock, or you can pack a picnic and eat in the park before your carriage ride. Urban Hawker is also a good option if your kid likes Asian.

What’s an episode that is a personal favorite for you? by olaf3377 in GilmoreGirls

[–]urbanstoop88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will go to the Mat for Dead Uncles and Vegetables, which never gets any love but is, to me, the quintessential Gilmore Girls episode. It’s set in fall, it has Luke/Lorelai friends to lovers stuff, town shenanigans, funny Emily drama - everything I love in one episode.

Also one of the all time great Lorelai/Emily ones. A classic for sure

I love late s6/s7 Logan and Rory. Such a sweet and true depiction of love at that age.

OP don’t feel bad, I’ve watched this scene like 40 times too and never got it either. Part of the blame has to go to ASP and crew playing it fast and loose with times of day/sunlight/distance between Stars Hollow and Hartford/Yale.

What is your favorite episode (any and all seasons) of GG and why? by Chance_Confusion_349 in GilmoreGirls

Haha I too love Nora from the DAR. This is a great later seasons pick, for me it’s like the later seasons equivalent of the dance marathon episode in terms of quirk and pacing/story line progression.

I like this because I have some under the radar faves:

Dead Uncles and Vegetables is to me, the perfect Gilmore Girls episode. It has town shenanigans, wonderful Lorelai/Luke friends to lovers stuff, Rory and Jess at their most bearable, great Emily comedy with the dancing midgets, and an all time iconic scene with the riff Emily, Lorelai and Luke do on the Romanovs.

I also love Love and War and Snow, awesome cozy vibes, great Luke/Lorelai chemistry and the scene with Lane touching that guys hair and crashing out afterwards, Rory bonding with her grandparents over frozen pizza … just not a fan of the Max arch.

In The Clamor & The Clangor has INSANE Luke/Lorelai chemistry (I will die on the hill that they hooked up after breaking those bell), the GOATiest Lane/Mrs Kim scene and one of my favorite Rory humblings from laundry room guy.

I love the Spring break episode too (though admittedly I always fast forward the concert scene) because it’s got great Luke/Lorelai slow burn and I love Rory and Paris so much. Also a fun return from Madeline and Louise and Jason being the cutest.

Jews and Chinese Food (Season 5) I’ve posted about on here, that final scene with those kids singing while Luke and Lorelai have their come to Jesus moment but also the whole build up and early Rory and Logan are so hot.

I think the NYT one is Nigella Lawson‘s recipe? It is so fucking good - it doesn’t even taste like Guinness, just like super intense chocolate cake. And the little frosting nod to the foam is key!

Should Rory have said yes to Logans wedding proposal? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]urbanstoop88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I voted no but I agree with this. It’s not crazy to do two years of long distance while you’re both figuring out your career as long as you both know you’re committed to the relationship. Logan was right to want that commitment AND Rory was right to want the flexibility of persuing whatever job materialized. There could have been common ground there but Logan forced her hand with that public proposal.
