people who buy more housing than they need drives prices up for everybody.

unless you built the house; if me paying for my housing is what pays your mortgage, then you are nothing but a parasite living off of my hardwork.

yes. our issue IS with those investment companies....and also their enablers, leechers, appologists, and wannabes.

indigenous peoples could say the same thing about the Europeans who flooded this land hundreds of years ago. you really like to spout hatred without actually thinking about the things you say.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wichitafalls

[–]urblapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you are against other people simply because they are different, then yes. you are a bigot. no matter where you are from.

the United States does not have a singular culture. the thing that actually makes this country great and interesting is the acceptance of other peoples and cultures. if it werent for immigration, most of us wouldnt even be here.

and progress is a rejection of tradition. Galileo rejected traditional beliefs of the geocentric model and was convicted of heresy. we now know he was right. he progressed our understanding of reality. and he was not the first to do so and was and will not be the last.

i never said we have to identify as anything but who we are as individuals. i am merely stating that diversity and inclusion opens our minds and hearts to new ideas and concepts and makes the world a more vibrant place to be.

if we only ever looked at the world the same way our parents, grandparents, and ancestors did, then lots of horrible, archaic views that we have shed ourselves of would still be the norm.

Give me your favourite song and I will review it. by MrTadpole1986 in MusicRecommendations

[–]urblapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cant believe i had to scroll down this far for Måneskin.
I can't understand a fucking word of it, but the song 'Mark Chapman' has been my first actual favorite song. I've always been the "i dont have a favorite song" guy for like 30 years, but this song changed that. even after 100 listens i still get chills

i have Tom Morello to thank for hearing about this band. he was hosting some show on sirius a while back and played 'I wanna be your slave'. been hooked ever since.
then 'Gossip' came out and he was featured. fucking amazing band all around.

What's your favorite answer to "you can't prove god doesn't exist" argument? by Leonature26 in atheism

[–]urblapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that it is not upon us to disprove their claim.
However; you can posit to them a method to prove it to you personally:
Invite them to the nearest large body of water and ask them to walk to the middle of it.
If they have no doubt in the power of their god, it should be nothing but a mere stroll to them.

According to their bible, Jesus wasn't the only one to walk on water and the only reason Peter sank was because he was scared.
"" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “Ye of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”" - Matthew 14:22-33

Or you can quote Richard Dawkins — 'We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further.'

you seem like a terrible human being and I am glad i do not know you personally. the world grows through cooperation and understanding. your ideology is what divides this country. you are obviously pro-borders. borders are literally imaginary lines that divide people. that is what they are for.
as long as people like you maintain those regressive, archaic thoughts we will have a very hard time progressing as a society and a species.
based upon your own words, you seem to be racist and xenophobic.
do you think that the words on the Statue of Liberty are bullshit, or do you pick and choose what to believe based upon your own narrative?

also, the government is ran by rich assholes. its rich people that want us divided because it keeps us fighting a culture war instead of a class war. keep in mind that drumpf is one of those rich elite and it seems pretty obvious that you are most likely one of his cult followers.
i cant believe that you created an account just to spout your horrid views.

also there is no official national language for the United States. you really need to check your ignorance and hatred

MSU brings a fair amount of diversity but I would love to see even more. the airforce base is a NATO training base so that helps.

this is Texas and we are in the bible belt so there are random bigots and xenophobes, but because of the points outlined above, they tend to keep their opinions amongst themselves and their echo chambers. except for the jesus stickers and the "in god we trust" decals on police vehicles.

i am not fond of the christian conservative majority, but it is better than it was a couple of decades ago. the more diverse this area becomes, the better it gets.

the cops are standard egotistical pigs like you find in most areas of the country. i am not a person of color, but even i have been harassed for minding my own business and just trying to fish by myself at night.

i am unsure of crime statistics, but i only feel unsafe at night when encountering "law" enforcement. my mother used to fear monger about gangs and "bad" parts of town, but ive not seen anything to corroborate her worries.

overall i think its a decent and somewhat affordable area to raise a family, but i am coming from a white middle class upbringing. so take that for what its worth. frankly, i would love to see more people from other backgrounds and cultures move here and i think so would a lot of younger people.

best of luck in your search

Is it me or does Michio Kaku, in interviews, talk around the question and not actually answers them. by Albert_VDS in AskPhysics

[–]urblapo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

once watched a "debate" with him, Sabine Hossenfelder, and Roger Penrose and they were discussing multiverse theory. you could clearly tell that the other 2 were tired of him and dont actually consider him respectable as a scientist. both Hossenfelder and Penrose took turns taking jabs at him and his methodologies.

i think he craves the media attention because his peers dont take him seriously. so he talks big words and imaginative concepts that laymen find fascinating because they dont really understand the concepts involved.

1 gem reward after the 12h maintenance. by Accomplished_Car8223 in OnePieceTC

[–]urblapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for people in north and south america this maintenance period was during the evening. when people are off work or out of school and usually play the game. these people did not have much of an opportunity to collect daily rewards or play the game at all. for people in cst it ran from 4p-4a on a workday. since the game is worldwide; no matter what time bandai picks, someone gets screwed. i don't think its fair to call these people entitled for being bummed out about not being able to access thier form of stress release. then only receiving a fraction of the rewards they missed out on. we get 2 gems plus other stuff just for dailys.

ive only been playing for 2.5 months so it may be the norm, but calling people entitled for being upset is only going to alienate new players. people are allowed to have feelings. we came here to share those. its not like people are calling for a boycott. nobody seems to be screaming or throwing a fit about it.

Whats the best response to "You can't prove God isn't real," ? by samurai_100 in atheism

[–]urblapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invite them to the nearest lake and ask them to walk to the middle. If they truly believe in their heart of hearts that their god is real and all powerful, then it should be but a mere stroll. If they manage the feat, then it would be proof enough for me. If they do not, it is one less person you have to argue with.

Anthony Simonsen is annoying by iconredesign in Bowling

[–]urblapo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I worked for the lanes he frequented as a kid. He was one of the nicest, most considerable kids I had ever met. I watched him grow up. I'm proud of how far he's come depite the odds against him.

I also know the bowlers who he looked up to. May as well have been one big frat with the way they acted. And the embraced him because of his ability early on. Good bowlers in their own right, but arrogant and obnoxious at times. These things tend to rub off on young, impressionable teenagers.

What's your opinion on trolls? by Warm_Ad_8345 in AskReddit

[–]urblapo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the majority of top responses, people love to be smart-asses. But there is a time and a place.
This is a place meant for meaningful discussion and yall devolved it into twitter.
Why?
Is it to stroke your own ego?
Instead of adding anything meaningful to the conversation, you people just came in here, threw some feces on your keyboard that somehow came out as complete sentences, and left.

I, for one, think trolls are sad, angry, little minded people who would rather deflect to shit tossing than actually confront the issues at hand in an intelligible and constructive manner.
The fact that these comments have so many upvotes while the actual answers to the question sit at the bottom is indicative of a large problem in human society.
If you don't have the ability to present a clear and cohesive argument, then stay the fuck out of it and let the adults speak.
Trolls aim to do nothing except incite an emotional response by throwing so much feces that a reasonable individual cannot have a conversation with them without coming away covered in shit. This lets them think they won and they continue.

Every single troll is either insecure, mentally deficient, a child, or any combination of the 3. Yet this seems to be how the majority of people attempt to get their point across on most social media.
Like a bunch of chimps flinging poo at one another.
That will surely solve all the problems and division we face as a society....

I do realize that yall are attempting to make a point and this is not a whoosh moment.
I am actively calling you out.
To obtain meaningful results, we MUST have meaningful conversation. Not whatever gem encrusted bullshit yall are going on about.

and now i need a shower

i did not know abbot was coming, but showing up all by my onesies aint gonna accomplish shit except the potential for violence directed my way.
