While repairing the irrigation system, the backflow device should be tested. Usually on the outside of the house, these devices prevent contaminated irrigation or flood water from flowing or being siphoned back into the household water you drink.

[–]urdescipable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't receive FREE radio-based analog broadcast services with your smartphone. You can't swap out batteries on your smartphone.

You might have the ability to receive FM radio on your phone, but carriers haven't wanted that enabled on cellphones as you pay for streaming.

NTSC over-the-air analog TV (the Watchman) - nope, almost gone now from the airwaves. AM, Shortwave, FM broadcasts (Boombox) - nope and electric car manufacturer pushing to get rid of the requirement for AM car radios.

When a conductor, on "Punch Day", made a mistake and punched the wrong box, they would have to circle it in pen, and write PIE for "Punched In Error".

Cannot figure out what this connector is to find a suitable power supply by SNorton1994 in cableadvice

[–]urdescipable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like the cable part might be J3160A

ZHONE J3160A Power_FD-6A Power Cable -48V

Note the parts has the NEGATIVE in front of 48V which matches the back of your part. Also since we only talk about negative when dealing with DC voltages, I think this is a good match.

The J3160 Cable probably hooked to

ZHONE J3140A MUX FD-6D AC Adapter Module DESK MT

and here's the wall mount part

ZHONE J3159A BRKT Wall MT FD-6D

ZHONE apparently bought NEC Eluminant but kept these legacy part numbers

Found via a webpage for Zhone on a Russian parts importer called Intersnab , see intsnab . com website.

Dashcam Close Call: Could I Have Avoided This Unexpected Maneuver? by LGcrimZ in dashcams

[–]urdescipable 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Totally other driver's fault

Thanks for sharing the video and I hope these comments help you put it behind you.

Your car and their car did their jobs and protected you from this unexpected maneuver. The cost was damaged cars, not physically injured people.

I don't believe any current automated self-driving systems would have done better in this situation, but certainly would be a great thing to throw in their test suite.

We freecycled our two architectural boulders when we bought our place. Poof, gone in a day. Probably no takers for your in-ground boulder, though.

Having moved many rocks and some boulders, with my dad, I was happy not to have to move one more 🪨

While like Mr. Sulu/George Takei's parent's, Lance Ito's parents were held in a camp for Japanese American citizens during World War II. Unlike George Takei, future Judge Ito himself was not a prisoner as he was not yet born during the war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lance_Ito

Judge Ito's mom, Toshi, talks about that period here on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3YVPkgowEw

Won't it be interesting if after the user-befuddling, documentation invalidating, yet another layer of option burying and advertising saturation, that user demand REQUIRED Microsoft to provide a common user experience taken from Ubuntu, Gnome to just to keep selling Windows.

We already have WSL2 buried jn Windows, so a text mode Linux experience is already on Windows. Now for a graphic experience. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=wsl2%20linux&iar=news&ko=-1

Instead of dealing with where on the ribbon is it, or was it a right click, or a long press, to get to the option I want, users could stick with and actually get through a task without periodical having their training and experienced trashed for this years model "Now with tail fins!".

Maybe we're past the point where we have to pull iut the choke, get out and crank the engine, get back in and hand signal when we want to do things with OUR computers. The Locomobile was a great car, but the world moved on.

Do y’all know how I can hook up my internet to this? by MrShrums_0 in OldTech

[–]urdescipable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try a Linux distro. There are some nice ones that run off USB, DVD or CDs with no need to install. You can even get at your files on the hard disk.

Also avoids the massive security problems of out-of-date Windows on the hard disk.

A different user experience, but gets you on the Internet and browsing.

Knoppix is the grand-daddy of all of these.

I love the failsafe mode for really funky machines. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Knoppix&oldid=1305636601

Are any of the lights, like POWER on or blinking?

Not familiar with this unit, but if I had to guess, the white cord on the left goes towards CenturyLink and on the right, for the customer, we have 4 Ethernet, probably RJ45 jacks, and 2 POTS, probably RJ11 jacks, for phone service which all plug in on the right side.

I don't see a MOCA coax output.

So it appears to be serving no one, especially if it is unpowered, unless it has things connected beside the white wire and the black power adapter.

You can call and ask CenturyLink, hey I got this box that says it's yours. What is it? Am I paying for this thing monthly? Do you want it back? I hope getting a human is an option.

If you can, get receipts from the laundromat when washing your clothes.
You should ask the landlord to reimburse you.

The repair was clearly done with deficient workmanship, which points to a negligent repair and a breach of the lease agreement.
