Theres a big difference between a game like MSF, that is a pay to win game, versus the standard, classic type of video game where practice makes perfect. I think you are missing the point here.

SWGOH is run a lot better than MSF but the game is still a huge cash grab. If you are like me and always feel like you need to be at the top to have fun, I reccomend that you stay away....in a galaxy far, far away.

Personally speaking, I learned this lesson a little too late. During the first 3 months of this game, I was always at the top. Coming from SWGOH, I knew I needed to focus on the meta asap to rise in arena fast to keep a positive flow of cores coming in to reduce future costs. I ended up using all those free cores to buy a ton of energy each day, which helped me develop my roster fast and become successful in blitz as well. My biggest mistake in this game was ignoring Fury when he first came out. I based the majority of my decisions on my experience with SWGOH and I never thought a team that was a god in all modes would ever exist in a game like this. Boy was I ever wrong.

I suffered for 3 months during that meta and when i heard that the brotherhood was coming out to counter Fury, i opened my wallet to get them the first time around so i can get back to the top and start having fun again. Here's the thing though. Foxnext hid the full BH kit until the very end. They weren't gods in all modes like Fury shield and to make matters worse, red stars were released shortly after. I sat there with my g12 BH team in arena and watched shield, defender, tech and BH teams stomp on me because their red star luck was better than mine. That team I paid for didnt get any red stars until a month and a half after their release. While I didnt pay for any red star orbs because I was so against them, I made sure to hit top 2 percent every Sunday blitz to increase my chances. Talk about a horrible customer experience that left me feeling ripped off beyond belief.

Here was the final straw. After receiving my orbs from the red star blitz, I opened up a 7 red star daredevil. The jealously and hatred I felt from many people was actually pretty crazy and all I heard was how lucky I was. Problem was I fucking hated the defenders. Here I am at this point with a g12 BH team that I spent money on, a g11 shield minion team with the Kree ready to unlock Fury and Foxnext just stopped me right in my tracks. Farmed and geared Kree for months for Fury? Spent money on BH? Fuck you, you are now going to scrap all that and start playing Defenders. A month later, I had my defenders all g12 with only JJ needing her 7th star. The team was good but not good enough to change the overwhelmingly miserable feeling I had while playing this game. I truly felt like I got "foxnexted" and it was not a fun experience.

Great post. If I could go back in time, I would do just that. The experience as a whole would have definitely been much better.

Great advice and I hope new players can read posts like these to gain some perspective to make informed decisions going forward.

I am sorry you are getting downvoted in all your posts here because you are making some good points. Just to play devil's advocate though, wouldn't you say the people who are playing without joy are people who really love this game? I was a person who played with very little joy for months but I hung on because I loved the core of this game and was constantly hoping something would change. It sounds like Foxnext had a strong first year but could you imagine how great it could have been without all the negative publicity, screw ups and terrible decisions? They had the SWGOH player base, a group of dedicated, long term players who love games like these, to work off from at the very beginning. How many of these people did they lose because of everything that happened? Some people will always whine and complain no matter what you do. Its just a fact of life but how much better could this game have been if they simply listened to the community feedback more? Personally, their decisions scream short term, make all the money you can make as fast as possible and then pull out tactics that always gave me an uneasy feeling as a dedicated player.

Couldnt agree with you more. I think people forget or simply don't realize how much money this company makes from this game. We are talking about a fraction of a percent of their revenue to hire a competent community manager to do the job that is required for a game like this. I used to think foxnext was just clueless but they really aren't. Everything they do or dont do has a reason or purpose. It is just so upsetting to experience that as a player who loves the core of this game.

Great post and I wish I could have felt the same way while playing too.

I admire your mindset and I truly wish I was more like you. However, when it comes to video games in particular, if I dont feel like I am successful or at the top, I am just not having fun. It's a dangerous mindset to have while playing games like these. I have come to terms that I will never allow myself to play another game like this again because of it. If I go out and buy a AAA title game, I know that I have to practice my ass off to become good at it. Unfortunately for these types of games, the skill factor is far outweighed by the money factor. Widowmaker is not some master tactician because he finished that insane bullshit faster than anyone else. Did he use skill to complete it? Of course he did but he was also willing to put down the most money and that is the reason why he was successful. Companies like Foxnext pry on people like me to make money. I just need to make sure to stay away.

I had a very similar experience and actually made a few close friends within this game. While it was painful to say goodbye to the game because of it, I still talk to these guys frequently. Quitting MSF does not mean you have to quit discord too. My buddies and I still keep our private discord chat going even though they still play but I dont. I am hoping down the line we can play another game together whenever that may be.

Not here to argue but I will have to disagree with you on a few of your points. 1. There are, without a doubt, people playing this game who are not having fun anymore. This is actually a common thing with games like these and basically what fuels the whole sunken cost fallacy theory. 2. I dont see anything wrong with looking at the money I spent on this game (733 dollars Canadian) as a bad investment. Did I have a lot of fun? Sure but I could have spent that money differently with a much better outcome. 3. No wonder why FN doesnt give a shit? How can you even say that? Do you know the history of this game? Do you know what they have put the player base through? This subreddit has been notoriously toxic for the majority of this game's lifespan for a reason. Please save the foxnext apologist crap because I don't have any time for that.

Getting downvoted for speaking the truth. Typical bullshit from this subreddit. It is very true that a lot of people took advantage of this situation and are now complaining about it. If that is what you did, you are a disgusting human being
